I drew a picture of the robot from Monday's strip. I put him in a plane of my own design. :D

Image

I game him goggles and a scarf as well.

I sure hope it looks ok. If so or if not tell me...

Edit: I just realized that this should go in the Skin Horse section. So would someone please move it. You should all thank me for making the first mistake though.

I will color and finish the picture if I am told what colors the robot is.
Specifically: his dome, his arms, and the little belt things on their waists.

Also the first person to explain the name on the wings correctly will receive an (imaginary) prize. Incorrect explanations will also receive a prize if they are funny. :D

In Spanish, un rocín is a hack. Suffixing it with -ante indicates it was a hack.

More to the point, it's the name of Don Quixote's horse, and is often used to indicate a contraption that couldn't possibly work.

THAT SAID, I'd like to think it was the middle name of Professor Lupin Madblood. :D

(sung to the tune of "Snoopy And The Red Baron")

In the dark ... and damp and gloom
Of a government building basement room,
Came a whining drone ... that sounded the same
As a single-cylinder model plane.

Trying to fly, and not to destroy,
A hemi-sphere misfit robot toy ...
He's not insane, just in a plane,
And he wants to rebuild and do it again!

Two, four, six, eight, ten and so ...
The Misfit Robo-Toy was ready to go!
Fifteen whole milliseconds passed
'Til the cross-dressing shrink got knocked on his ass!
Faster than a very fast thing!
More powerful than something really powerful!
Able to leap objects over which most people are unable to leap in a single bound in a single bound!

SoItBegins' Prize

Postby That Guy on Wed Apr 02, 2008 4:59 pm

SoItBegins for your awesome answer you receive an (imaginary) soul blade summoned by your battle cry and pulled from nowhere. You may use it to destroy your enemies. It is called the Sword of Smiting. Use it well.

Also, to Eddurd. That is an awesome song :!:

You must be joking. Obviously Rocinante refers to the main robot political party. (Yes, the robots have mastered advertising.)

To Jane

Postby That Guy on Thu Apr 03, 2008 11:30 am

Jane your answer is considerably good. So good you too would have received a soul sword if not for a small slip...

(Yes, the robots have mastered advertising.)

The robots have obviously not mastered advertising if the writing is on the top of the plane. If it was on the bottom people would be able to see it from the ground as the plane flew over.

So for your reward you get the Club of Considerable Harm. You too must use it well.

Well, there's not really a canonical answer at this point, but if you're counting my opinion, their domes are transparent blue and their arms are white with little brass (or brass-tone) pincers. While composing this mail, I saw the belts as white with a red stripe, but that was from memory, and looking at the cartoons now, it appears they are a single solid shaded color (with perhaps more brass on the rivets). So I don't know about the belt, but you can try red and see if it looks okay.

Yes, the Rocinante party. The Rocinante political party is composed chiefly of left-wing liberals, led by the great politician Rube Goldberg. Their goals are:
1. To improve health care (for all those poor working robots whose arms lie in people's intestines)
2. To lower the number of illegal immigrants (from all those *other* genetically-altered nonhuman sapient advanced civilizations we haven't heard about yet)
and
3. To achieve more than .015 seconds of air.

Color Code

Postby That Guy on Fri Apr 04, 2008 7:42 pm

So is this what you meant...

Image

Or did I lean too much towards the "It's a toy. It can have gaudy colors." angle?

Also, I tried the white arms, but it made it look unfinished.

No, the gaudy colors are perfectly apropos. That's quite good, and very much the sort of thing I was thinking.

Finished

Postby That Guy on Sat Apr 05, 2008 12:39 pm

Well this would have been easier if didn't have to put in all those rivets, but I have it colored.

It's easier to see the separate parts of the plane now though. :)
