Spammers, and How to Report Any You Find

Postby SoItBegins on Mon Apr 21, 2008 9:36 pm

It's come to my attention that some spambots are now able to evade CAPTCHAs. I know this because one registered on this site, and sent me a PM containing an incarnation of the good old Nigerian Lottery scam. If you've been sent a similar PM, or a PM containing any other kind of spam, please let me know, sending a copy of the PM along.

Thanks.

Spam bots sending PMs? Thats unusual. It could have been a real person playing around. Also note that the letter/number verification system isn't as secure as it used to be. Some spam bots are now loaded with image recognition software.

Still, looking at your member list, your either not on a spam list yet or it works well enough that only real humans spamming you get through. Or you prune them very well.
