I recently got a copy of the book51 High-Tech Practical Jokes for the Evil Genius. I spent hours just reading it, enthralled by the explanations of how to build stuff like the "Evil-Posessed Doll" or the "Rigged Lie Detector".
I NOW HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE SAID BOOK IS HOST TO A HIGHLY VIRULENT STRAIN OF MINDWORM. Ever since, I have not been able to get that book out of my head.
I was finally able to regain normal existence patterns by giving the book to a friend for safe-keeping, then submerging myself in TVTropes (which is addictive in itself. It's kind of like jumping out of the fire, into the frying pan.)
I have since learned that such actions carry their own consequences. Mainly, I should have given the book to someone who does not know how to use a soldering iron.
The book is great-- heck, it's incredible!-- but if you do obtain a copy, even through the library, beware.
And when you've caught it, don't say I didn't warn you.
