Recently, I retried Telengard. It was very meh. Then I retried Nethack. It was better than I remembered. Lots of exploration that can keep me occupied for longer than most new games. I like collecting all the items that I need to figure out.

What old text adventure and simple graphic games do you still play?

If I could find a modern, legal port of Dragon Wars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Wars), I would so be doing another run-through of it right now. Dunno if that's old-school enough for you. Used ta was, I made some hacking runs at Angband, but I haven't played that for ages now. I hate to say it, but I get spoiled by Pretty very very easily.

Eric the Unready. You need DosBox (or DOS) to play it, but you will be falling out of your seat laughing quite soon.

...do the old Quest For Glory games count as "Simple graphics"? They were the first games I remember ever playing that I still play once in a while today, and the hidden paladin class in the 3rd game and on was what first got me interested in Dungeons and Dragons, to the point that several of my first DnD characters suffered from what my friends called "The Toboz Martyr complex"

telengaud is still fun for me
it took me and a freind 16 years to figure out the last two puzzles in the questprobe Hulk and Spider-man games. As far as we could tell the questprobe Fantastic four is no kidding impossable.

When I was a kid, I spent many days of my life playing Jacaranda Jim and Humbug by Graham Cluley.
(See Wikipedia. I'd post the link but I'm getting the Mr. Spammer error.)

Unfortunately his website seems to be down so I don't know where to get those games any more.
