Holy cow and missing strips

Postby Ninjacrat on Sun Apr 20, 2008 9:16 am

Firstly: Shaenon had new comic and nobody told me? Holy cow!

Second: Is anyone else missing a chunk of strips from the current arc? And also two of the navigation arrows and the cast page pictures? In fact, now I think of it, is it some kind of a Modern Tales thing, except rather than locking you out of pages until you subscribe, it holds random images hostage until you mail them an envelope of unmarked bills?

And if so, what's their address?

Re question #2:

No, it's a problem with Firefox. I get it too sometimes.

The best solution is either to wait (the missing images always show up after a while, usually half a day to a day), or use Safari.

Of course, Safari doesn't work with the Rich Text comment editor properly, so it's up to you.

All the strips in the current "Borrowers" arc seem to be here, and all three of the present cast pictures.

Hm! I use Opera, so maybe it's more of a not-Internet-Explorer thing.

Well, I've tried Opera and never had any problems, so... who knows? Maybe try changing to a different browser.

I just started having the same problem yesterday. When I checked, there were comments on the comic, but no comic. Today I can see today's strip and the Sunday fanart, but not yesterday's strip or anything from last week.

I also can't see any of the Narbonic archives (yesterday I was looking for a pic of Human Artie to compare to Sunday's "The Wotch), and I have the same problem with Lea Hernandez' "Cathedral Child" (also a WCN comic).

This is with Opera, specifically 9.27 on Tiger.

[EDIT:] I just rolled back to Opera 9.26, and the problem disappeared. I'm now running 9.26 and 9.27 side-by-side; 9.26 shows the back strips, and 9.27 doesn't. I'm still having some problems with the Narbonic archives, though.

I have this problem quite often, but it usually goes away. (It's not a cache thing, though, since I've tried refreshing. No, just a WCN hiccup.)

Another site issue (too minor for a new thread): the Message Board links on the Cast and About Us pages still go to the old forum.
