Just a bit of something that occured in AIM with Sai and Gentle Breeze, it amused me ^.^

(3/25/2012 12:58:28 AM) starwar009: while Sai is left alone with GB he looks over at Sai "So, Thorns eh? Tha musta been a shitty day. wanna know wha I was doin on tha day?"
(12:58:38 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: ...not particuarly.
(1:01:03 AM) starwar009: GB: too bad. I was gettin a first hand look at imperial cowardice. Friggin arses just stuck in their little fort when our town was raided. din' do a thing. Let everyone die jus cuz we weren' important like their precious commander's arse.
(1:02:14 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: ...if you are trying to anger me...
(1:03:06 AM) starwar009: GB: So ya can talk big abou' bravery, but I know ya jackenapes only stuck aroun cuz there was no where to run to. An I dun give a good damn iffin I make you angry. Ya dun matter. But tellin ya this was importan'
(1:03:58 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: ...why?
(1:05:17 AM) starwar009: GB:*goes back to staring at nothing* cuz, yer the first person I saw whot was some from the legion. Suppose I'd tell some other unlucky arse if they'd been first. Gotta be said.
(1:05:48 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: ... what happened to yours was nothing less than shameful.
(1:06:43 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: but I can't understand why they wouldn't have helped you. I wasn't there. I was at Thorns. And I and mine fought until every victim in our care had escaped or had fallen.
(1:07:03 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: I am accountable for no one's commands save my own.
(1:08:45 AM) starwar009: GB: course yer not. Yer just some poor enlisted schmuck, or was anyway. You aint in charge, an I dun *care* what's done to you, one way or t'other. But th' jackenapes that run this place, oh them, thems gonna die. all sortsa ways. An iffin yer in my way, well, ya gotsa die too.
(1:09:27 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: ...
(1:10:22 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: ...were I to let you go, right now, you would turn around and kill many more, would you not?
(1:11:45 AM) starwar009: GB: Yep, prolly startin wit you.
(1:13:04 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: ... Good thing I'm not the merciful sort, then. If I had my way your body would be burning right now to rightfully prevent your ghost from returning. But the others.. they're.. soft. And it's a redeeming trait for them. They hath not been marred by war.
(1:14:02 AM) starwar009: GB: hah! a drink to those not tainted by war an death eh?
(1:14:11 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: If w
(1:14:24 AM) Prof Zobot: *If I had a flask of whisky I'd pass it over.
(1:15:35 AM) starwar009: GB: if ya did I'd spit it in yer face. *grinning* aim for th' eyes, whisky burns lika bitch. then I'd see how fas I can get outta these ropes and strangle ya withem.
(1:16:10 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: And then I'd impale you and tell Peri and the others you were resisting arrest.
(1:16:39 AM) starwar009: GB: Glad t'know we understan' each other.
(1:16:55 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: Ha hah hah make one move and I'll gut you
(1:17:32 AM) starwar009: GB: An you letcher attention wander too much an you'll see how tight I kin make this rope round yer neck.
(1:17:47 AM) Prof Zobot: Sai: *Has made a frienemy*
(1:18:38 AM) starwar009: heh, apparently(wanted to make something a little unique in the possibile interactions. Jovial but honest "I'll kill you")

(10:22:50 PM) madgirlkate: 4 rolls
(10:23:34 PM) starwar009: ok, so it took Zoe 2 hours to get it put together.
(10:24:28 PM) madgirlkate: Does the Matron stay in that room the whole time? (Zoe would want to know where she was going if she left)
(10:24:37 PM) madgirlkate: (and possibly follow her but I'm not sure)
(10:24:52 PM) starwar009: she stays. working on one of the other spheres
(10:24:57 PM) madgirlkate: *nods*
(10:25:02 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I believe it to be finished.
(10:26:03 PM) starwar009: Matron: excellent. I'm done here as well. *holds up a bit of cobbled together pieces* Let's finish this then. *moves over to the machine and starts working her piece into the design*
(10:26:24 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *watches*
(10:37:34 PM) starwar009: Matron: *a moment later*Done. Now, should where should we test it?
(10:38:25 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I believe that the best place to determine with accuracy the effectiveness would be from the wall, although I am uncertain of its range.
(10:46:19 PM) starwar009: (we'll pick this back up in a moment ^.^ )
(10:46:34 PM) madgirlkate: kk
(11:19:30 PM) madgirlkate: Incidentally, I don't think I can make Exalted next week.
(11:19:35 PM) madgirlkate: I have to fly to San Diego.
(11:19:43 PM) madgirlkate: Until like midnight EST.
(11:20:50 PM) starwar009: ah, righto. well, guess next week is only solar group anyway. and then after that we'll go back to both groups. that sat after next I have the day off after all
(11:21:25 PM) madgirlkate: Works.
(11:22:32 PM) madgirlkate: Incidentally, I'm a little bored at the current Exalted status. Although given that we're waiting for Jane to finish dinner, you probably already guessed that.
(11:22:49 PM) starwar009: yeah, sorry. ^.^;
(11:22:51 PM) madgirlkate: *rolls*
(11:23:20 PM) madgirlkate: I am not doing much...
(11:24:37 PM) starwar009: I know. things should pick up once jane's back, but I kind of need to know how she reacts to her bit before I can say what happens next to Zo. Though I could entertain you with an int + lore roll on how effective this device will be. ^.^;
(11:26:23 PM) madgirlkate: 3 successe
(11:26:26 PM) madgirlkate: *successes
(11:27:29 PM) starwar009: ok, Zoe comes to the conclusion that as far as disabling goes, this device is nowhere near powerfull enough. The amount of essence it channels could never overwhelm all the spheres downstairs not to mention the potential army of them outside the walls.
(11:28:38 PM) madgirlkate: ...does the device actually look like it's going to try to disable the things? Aside from power magnitude, does everything else look right?
(11:28:43 PM) madgirlkate: /what should I roll to determine that?
(11:29:58 PM) starwar009: that'd be either an int + lore roll or int + craft magitec(the second is a lower difficulty)
(11:32:05 PM) madgirlkate: Well, I'll have to try int+lore.
(11:32:27 PM) madgirlkate: 6 successes?
(11:33:57 PM) starwar009: ok, it's not going to disable anything. It looks more like it's built to override an essence control signal, probably to the spheres. Not cause them to deactivate, but send them command signals of some sort
(11:34:43 PM) madgirlkate: Is it pretty obvious how to, at the very least, turn it on?
(11:35:05 PM) starwar009: yes.
(11:37:18 PM) madgirlkate: Ok, given that it was put together in like 140 minutes, I'm assuming it's not welded together... is there a part that I can remove such that it cannot be quickly (<30 seconds) repaired/replaced, or do I have to roll to figure that out, too?
(11:39:28 PM) starwar009: no need to roll for that, you put it together after all. You could easily take an important piece
(11:39:37 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *yoink*
(11:40:32 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *not trying to be subtle*
(11:40:47 PM) starwar009: Matron: ?!
(11:40:54 PM) starwar009: Matron: What are you doing?
(11:41:24 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I took a piece out so it wouldn't work.
(11:41:36 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Given that you designed it, I really thought that would be more obvious.
(11:41:53 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Do you need a minute to go over the design again?
(11:44:24 PM) starwar009: Matron:*straightens self* You are trifling in things beyond your kin child.
(11:44:59 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: My kin are on Blessed Isle. Most of the things I trifle with are beyond them.
(11:45:35 PM) madgirlkate: (...I think you meant ken, but still)
(11:45:49 PM) starwar009: (I did >.< woops)
(11:46:05 PM) starwar009: (oh well, Zoe continues to amuse)
(11:46:34 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: If you would explain them to me, the would cease to be beyond my ken.
(11:49:58 PM) starwar009: Matron: Those things out there can be controlled with this. I intend to do so and use them to destroy the ones that commanded them until now. After that... well the scavenger lands are going to change a good deal.
(11:52:10 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: An explanation is insufficient unless it encompasses all relevant details.
(11:53:46 PM) starwar009: Matron: You're incapable of comprehending all relevant details since all details are relevant.
(11:54:33 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I feel that your prioritization of your own power over the health of the previous matron is relevant.
(11:55:23 PM) starwar009: Matron: Hardly. A happy coincidence.
(11:56:13 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I also feel that your track record of being untrustworthy makes it difficult for me to be enthusiastic about trusting you with a great deal of political power.
(11:59:17 PM) starwar009: Matron: You do not get to decide what power I have. You forget your place child of Luna. What has happened to creation in the long years I slept that a Lunar would dare to dictate what I may or may not be "trusted with" ? *looming, forehead showing a twilight caste mark*
(6/3/2012 12:00:12 AM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Mostly more competent leaders, although the part where you were untrustworthy after waking up was also relevant.
(12:00:27 AM) madgirlkate: She's going to unsheath her claws and run the machine through, aiming for whatever the most critical component is.
(12:00:49 AM) madgirlkate: Ummm... actually, aiming for the thing the matron put in, with any critical components she can hit in addition to that being bonus.
(12:02:01 AM) starwar009: heh, righto. roll a your attack
(12:03:52 AM) madgirlkate: 4 successes. Man.
(12:04:00 AM) madgirlkate: Well, it probably doesn't have a DV.
(12:04:21 AM) madgirlkate: ...what's its soak?
(12:05:19 AM) starwar009: no DV and it's soak is 4, so add up the 4 successes with the dmg part
(12:05:46 AM) madgirlkate: 1 str + 5L from the gloves, so 6 damage dice?
(12:06:35 AM) starwar009: not quite. more like 6 levels of dmg(aka no need to roll, it jsut does the dmg.) so 6L to the device, that's enough to damage it
(12:06:44 AM) madgirlkate: Ooooh. Sweet.
(12:07:17 AM) starwar009: the matron looks enraged and rears up, obviously making the motions to cast a spell
(12:08:37 AM) madgirlkate: Zoe: ...if you are going to try to cast magic, I am going to stab you. *wishes she had more essence left* Although I was under the impression that you were more interested in rational discussion. I suppose I also was under the impression that you were not secretly a lunar in disguise trying to take over large swaths of land, however, so I may simply not be paying sufficient attention today.
(12:09:33 AM) starwar009: (solar in disguise, Twilight caste)
(12:09:39 AM) madgirlkate: Oooh, sorry.
(12:09:45 AM) madgirlkate: Correct that. *headdesk*
(12:10:06 AM) madgirlkate: Anyway, she still spellcasting? Can I punch her? Are we doing ticks or something?
(12:10:35 AM) starwar009: we're going to do join battle, so yes ticks ^.^
(12:11:17 AM) madgirlkate: Ooooh. Should I roll join battle?
(12:11:48 AM) starwar009: yes ^.^
(12:12:26 AM) madgirlkate: 2 successes
(12:13:01 AM) starwar009: ok, they go on the same tick, though the matron is using the action to begin casting the spell
(12:13:50 AM) madgirlkate: Alright. Zoe is going to do a three-flurry punch. "This is conveninent for neither of us, you know."
(12:14:06 AM) madgirlkate: -3 -4 -5, right?
(12:14:40 AM) starwar009: yes
(12:15:34 AM) madgirlkate: 6 successes on the first one
(12:15:52 AM) starwar009: ok, that's five over her DV.
(12:16:01 AM) madgirlkate: .........huh.
(12:17:16 AM) madgirlkate: So... 11 raw damage? What's her soak?
(12:18:15 AM) starwar009: 4L
(12:18:39 AM) madgirlkate: 7 damage dice?
(12:18:50 AM) starwar009: yep
(12:18:56 AM) madgirlkate: 4 successes
(12:19:15 AM) madgirlkate: *gonna just go ahead and do the other 2 punches*
(12:19:15 AM) starwar009: ok, one sec. got to roll to see if she maintains the spell
(12:19:20 AM) madgirlkate: Oooh. *nods*
(12:19:55 AM) starwar009: ok, on the fisr strike her spell, the gathering energy dissapears in a flash
(12:20:34 AM) starwar009: (do you remember how many spheres were unaccounted for?)
(12:20:41 AM) madgirlkate: Ummm... we didn't know.
(12:20:46 AM) starwar009: (nvm, found it)
(12:20:53 AM) madgirlkate: Oooh. *nods*
(12:21:08 AM) starwar009: alright, second attack
(12:21:09 AM) starwar009: ?
(12:21:20 AM) madgirlkate: 5 successes
(12:21:23 AM) madgirlkate: Is her DV 0 now?
(12:22:04 AM) starwar009: yes
(12:22:22 AM) madgirlkate: 7 damage dice again
(12:22:27 AM) starwar009: kk
(12:22:28 AM) madgirlkate: 3 damage
(12:22:50 AM) madgirlkate: 5 successes on the third punch...
(12:22:53 AM) starwar009: alright with that blow she collapses over backwards, bleeding from the claw marks
(12:23:09 AM) madgirlkate: Wait, like collapses collapses?
(12:23:11 AM) madgirlkate: Like dead?
(12:23:26 AM) starwar009: she seems oddly smug on her way down though. not dead, but obviously not getting up any time soon.
(12:24:42 AM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I know it is wrong, but I am hoping that you are not as dumb as your plan would appear to indicate you to be. I shall find out soon enough. *bends down, putting her claws at the Matron's throat*
(12:24:52 AM) madgirlkate: Does the Matron appear to be concious?
(12:26:28 AM) starwar009: She's unconcious yeah, or at least barely concious. she seems to be on the edge of dying(aka you got really lucky and got her perfectly to incapacitated level dmg with lethal)
(12:26:36 AM) madgirlkate: Oooooooooh.
(12:26:38 AM) madgirlkate: Snazzy!
(12:26:51 AM) madgirlkate: ...man, she did NOT have as many health levels as I expected.
(12:27:20 AM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Hmmm...
(12:27:26 AM) madgirlkate: Do I have my artifact book?
(12:27:30 AM) starwar009: yes
(12:27:58 AM) madgirlkate: Ok, Zoe is going to step back and, while keeping an eye on the matron, write a report to Echo.
(12:30:07 AM) starwar009: EchoOOC: my "about to get lectured about something" senses are tingling.
(12:30:43 AM) madgirlkate: She's going to start with relevant facts (mind-controlly book is causing problems -> returning it will solve problems -> acting Matron is hiding the book -> acting Matron was actually a twilight caste in disguise who mentioned having slept for a long time -> she was planning on taking over places by controlling the magitech in the raiders -> the raiders have an infectious magitech, some of which is loose in the city; the acting Matron is not good at combat -> she is lying on the floor, but not dead -> she did not seem to have an issue with combat, despite being awful at it -> there are probably going to be further things to happen with this that are not yet discovered)
(12:31:04 AM) madgirlkate: (gonna try to type the next part up, so gimmie a minute)
(12:32:54 AM) starwar009: (kk, no rush ^.^)
(12:41:26 AM) madgirlkate: "Given that I have just stabbed the acting matron twice, the guard will likely take issue with me. I am currently uncertain as to whether or not I should kill her or allow her to live, but regardless, either advice or someone with sufficient political clout to avoid me getting arrested before I can wake up the former matron would be appreciated. Should swaths of magitech-enhanced raiders begin attacking other cities in the name of this one, it is recommended that you blame her, and that you warn people against bringing any raiders into their cities, as well as warning them against magitech spheres that will take control of them and add them to the army. As a final note, I would like to mention how appreciated I am that my assistance on this journey was two other junior lunars, neither of whom was able to assist me in the determination of the acting Matron's plots.*

*Sai, at least, is attempting to find and destroy the (likely flying-based) entity which has been kidnapping townsfolk and took Whisper, with the assistance of a Sidreal. If this is unsuccessful, sending more than one combat-oriented lunar may meet with more success than sending them one at a time as they become available."
(12:41:58 AM) madgirlkate: If the Matron wakes up, she'll stop writing.
(12:42:43 AM) starwar009: heh, righto.
(12:45:15 AM) madgirlkate: Hmm... while she waits for a response, she's going to search the matron's notes/belongings that are in the room for either the other artifact book or the mind-controlly book, making sure to keep watching the woman.
(12:46:24 AM) starwar009: right. I'm going to say that'll need to wait for next time. I'm fading fast on quality

For Zo's interest in Kyra's alone time with zombies. sorry for the html stuff, no idea why it's there.

EDIT: added tonight's events.

(11:26:42 PM) starwar009: Righto, this won't be too long, but best to do it now ^.^ last time we left off Kyra had dispelled the sorcery that was animating a corpse, but could hear others moving around int he crypt
(11:28:04 PM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra went into warform, and activated Claws of the Silver Moon. She is now both dangerous and iconic.
(11:28:52 PM) starwar009: righto. well, she can hear the corpses moving throught the crypt, all in her general direction.
(11:29:09 PM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Let's head for 'em.
(11:31:37 PM) starwar009: ok, when Kyra steps out of the side room she can see several corpses, three to be exact, heading her way, they all seem to have sprouted swords from their forearms, and while they're moving unsteadily they seem to be slowly gaining more dexterity.
(11:31:46 PM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Join Battle?
(11:32:00 PM) starwar009: yep
(11:32:33 PM) ladymadsci: <HTML>5,9,2,10,4, 10   (5 successes)
(11:32:53 PM) starwar009: ok, she goes first, then 4 ticks later the zombies
(11:34:04 PM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Before she attacks, what's the environment like?
(11:36:17 PM) starwar009: right, she's at the doorway to the first room off the main hall of the crypt, with the heavy stone door to her left and the zombies down the hall on her right.
(11:38:43 PM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Describe this door.
(11:39:23 PM) starwar009: it;s a heavy stone door with a metal latch. it's not made to be opened often.
(11:39:37 PM) ladymadsci: <HTML>No, I mean, is it the crypt's front door? If not, where's it go?
(11:40:48 PM) starwar009: it's the door kyra used to enter the crypt, it leads back out into the main stairwell of the town hall.
(11:41:00 PM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Oh, OK. Are there other rooms down the hall?
(11:42:57 PM) ladymadsci: <HTML>(…..wut-oh. I gotta go to dinner! Sorry about this, Demo. I'll be back as soon as I can.)
(11:43:10 PM) starwar009: (kk)
(11:44:09 PM) starwar009: there are indeed other rooms down the hall. it's basically one long shallowly declining hallway leading into the depths of the hill with rooms that open off it at regular intervals to lead to the various burial chambers
(12:20:38 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>'mback.
(12:21:07 AM) starwar009: wb.
(12:21:21 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Want to continue?
(12:21:43 AM) starwar009: yeppers. I posted the info you asked for while you were gone ^.^
(12:21:48 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>OK!
(12:22:58 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Because of the full bonuses given to Kyra's unarmed attack by Claws of the Silver Moon, she'll flurry and attack two of the zobmies.
(12:23:17 AM) starwar009: ok, roll the first attack then ^.^
(12:23:30 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Okay. It's Dex+MA+Acc, right?
(12:23:53 AM) starwar009: yep. +any specialties she might have for it
(12:24:03 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>No need. Claws does the job admirably.
(12:24:22 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Rolling… 15 dice less 2 for the multi penalty = 13 dice.
(12:24:29 AM) starwar009: kk
(12:24:39 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>1,5,8,4,5, 9,1,3,2,9, 3,1,5   (3 successes)
(12:24:49 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>(that's a punch attack)
(12:24:57 AM) starwar009: right, let's see...
(12:25:13 AM) starwar009: right, 2 over
(12:26:15 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>They're extras?
(12:26:29 AM) starwar009: you'll see.
(12:27:15 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Okay. Claws adds a damage bonus of Str+2 = 6. Min damage = Essence+1 = 5. Do these things have any soak?
(12:27:42 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Also… how high are the ceilings in the crypt?
(12:29:20 AM) starwar009: the ceilings are 10 feet high. and this one has no soak
(12:29:43 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Ah, OK. Rolling 6 damage.
(12:29:50 AM) starwar009: kk
(12:30:05 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>1,5,5,2,10, 6   (1 success)
(12:30:21 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>= 1L
(12:31:32 AM) starwar009: ok, that scratched it a bit.
(12:31:51 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Attacking the second one:
(12:31:52 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>4,4,7,3,7, 5,8,1,2,8, 7,9   (6 successes)
(12:32:45 AM) starwar009: ok, that one has a parry of 2
(12:33:09 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>So −2 = 4, add bonus of 6 = 10 min 5. Any soak?
(12:33:29 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>(In other news, direct combat in Exalted is actually kinda fun. Why didn't I ever try this earlier?)
(12:36:10 AM) starwar009: 3L soak here.
(12:36:41 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Okeydokey… 10 − 3 = 7 damage. Rolling.
(12:36:54 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>1,2,2,1,10, 7,7   (3 successes) = 3L
(12:37:28 AM) starwar009: ok, and speed on your attacks?
(12:37:33 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>5.
(12:40:18 AM) starwar009: right, then they get to attack next. let's see...
(12:41:45 AM) starwar009: first attack: 1 success
(12:42:10 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra has a Dodge DV of 7 − 2 (for the attacks) = 5.
(12:42:16 AM) starwar009: righto
(12:42:33 AM) starwar009: xombie 2: 4 successes
(12:42:39 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Ditto, then.
(12:43:32 AM) starwar009: yep. and the last attack was 5, so failures on all fronts
(12:43:42 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Okeydokey.
(12:44:32 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Er, wait a sec, let me check how onslaught penalties work
(12:44:59 AM) starwar009: ah, it's not onslaught if it's 3 attacks from 3 different attackers
(12:45:05 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Oh, nvm. That's single attackers or group coordinated attacks.
(12:45:13 AM) starwar009: *nods*
(12:45:19 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Quick question. Zombie 2 is tougher than Zombie 1, judging by the stats you've given. Does it look tougher? Visually, how does Zombie 3 measure up
(12:45:25 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>to the other two?
(12:46:57 AM) starwar009: heh, zombie two does look tougher than zombie one, it looks like it's skin has undergone some sort of hardening process and the muscles seem to have grown back some on the corpse. and zombie three looks like zombie two.
(12:47:11 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Ah, OK. It's Kyra's turn, right?
(12:47:53 AM) starwar009: yep
(12:50:12 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>She'll flurry-attack zeds 2 and 3.
(12:50:32 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>1,7,1,1,1, 1,3,5,6,2, 6,1,5   (1 success) < first
(12:50:41 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>9,1,1,1,1, 4,8,7,4,6, 1,3   (3 successes) < second
(12:51:54 AM) starwar009: ok, first attack= fail. second attack =1 over
(12:52:27 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>1 + 6 = 7 min 5. If it has the same 3L soak, that'll be min (5). Is that right?
(12:52:40 AM) starwar009: yep
(12:54:09 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>10,6,9,4,7    (3 successes) = 3L
(12:56:12 AM) starwar009: ok, that cut it alright. and at this point they all start chanting something. "Return it to us."
(12:56:23 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra:
(12:56:31 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra: ….. oh, hell.
(12:57:04 AM) starwar009: it'
(12:57:42 AM) starwar009: it's a monotone, grating repition, barely audible, making no acknowledgement of Kyra's reaction
(12:58:26 AM) starwar009: and they're attacking again
(12:58:30 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Ah, OK.
(12:58:49 AM) starwar009: 5DV again right?
(12:58:58 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Mm-hm.
(12:59:15 AM) starwar009: second xombie gets lucky: 7 successes
(12:59:36 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Lethal, or bashing?
(1:00:42 AM) starwar009: L so after odge: 2 extra + 5L=7L before soak
(1:01:27 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Ah, OK. Kyra's lethal soak = 4L with armor.
(1:01:52 AM) starwar009: so 3L possibly. let's roll it ^.^
(1:02:00 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>OK!
(1:02:15 AM) starwar009: nothing
(1:02:22 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Phew! Lucky.
(1:02:40 AM) starwar009: and the last attack had 4 successes, so failure.
(1:02:57 AM) starwar009: but they get to go again before Kyra's next turn ^.^
(1:03:16 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Oh, OK.
(1:04:50 AM) starwar009: zombie 1= 8 successes= 3 over +5l=8L -4L soak= 4L to roll.
(1:05:13 AM) starwar009: Zombies: Return it to us.
(1:05:22 AM) starwar009: 1L dmg
(1:05:23 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra: Return what to you?
(1:05:29 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra: Ow!
(1:05:34 AM) starwar009: Zombies: Return it to us.
(1:06:04 AM) starwar009: and the other two attacks were failures
(1:06:19 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra, who is now at −1, will switch to attacking one zombie with her full dice pool. Specifically, #2.
(1:06:25 AM) starwar009: kk
(1:06:54 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>8,9,6,3,10, 3,8,3,1,8, 9,4,7,2   (8 successes)
(1:06:58 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>At zombie 2, BTW.
(1:07:35 AM) starwar009: kk, that's 7 over due to wound penalties... actually 8 over due to penalties
(1:08:01 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Subtracting PDV of 0 = 8 + 6 = 14 − 3L soak = 11 damage. Rolling…
(1:08:13 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>8,2,4,5,3, 9,3,9,6,1, 7   (4 successes) = 4L
(1:09:32 AM) starwar009: ok, that one's down.
(1:09:38 AM) starwar009: Zombies: Return it to us
(1:10:25 AM) starwar009: ok, zombie three got 5 successes on it's attack, but Kyra didn't flurry this time right?
(1:10:41 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>No, but her DV is at 5 due to the attack and wound.
(1:10:55 AM) starwar009: *nods* so it misses.
(1:13:30 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>So Kyra's up?
(1:17:00 AM) starwar009: yes. sorry, got a bit sidetracked ^.^;
(1:17:51 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>She'll attack Zombie 3.
(1:18:05 AM) starwar009: kk
(1:18:20 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>1,6,3,4,3, 4,9,7,4,8, 6,1,7,8   (5 successes)
(1:18:33 AM) starwar009: 5 over then
(1:18:47 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Subtracting PDV of 0 = 5 + 6 = 11 − 3L soak = 8 damage.
(1:18:59 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>2,2,2,6,4, 7,8,1   (2 successes) = 2L
(1:19:44 AM) starwar009: ok, does a bit of dmg
(1:20:04 AM) starwar009: and now the zombies attack
(1:20:28 AM) starwar009: 6 successes from zombie one
(1:20:42 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>That was unexpected. 1 over, then.
(1:21:19 AM) starwar009: 1 +5L=6L -4L soak=2L to roll
(1:21:33 AM) starwar009: 2L dmg
(1:22:37 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Okay.
(1:23:42 AM) starwar009: and zombie 3 got lucky and got 6 successes on it's attack
(1:23:58 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>1 over, as per usual.
(1:24:29 AM) starwar009: *nods* so 2L to roll again
(1:24:47 AM) starwar009: nothing
(1:25:00 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Phew.
(1:25:47 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra'll attack Zombie 1 this time.
(1:25:57 AM) starwar009: right
(1:26:01 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Oh my.
(1:26:02 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>10,1,10,3,8, 7,4,7,7,9, 1,6,2,10   (11 successes)
(1:26:20 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>I seem to recall you mentioning that Z1 had no soak, no parry....
(1:26:30 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>So, 11 + 6 = 17 damage. Oy.
(1:26:40 AM) starwar009: yep
(1:26:57 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Can I invoke knockback on this? :)
(1:27:43 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>10,6,3,10,1, 10,2,9,6,7, 3,9,5,4,6, 3,9   (7 successes) = 7L
(1:28:23 AM) starwar009: sure if you want. it's not like it can try to recover considering it's dead.
(1:28:46 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Okay, so Kyra slams it with a claw swipe and pieces of zombie go in all directions!
(1:29:18 AM) starwar009: indeed.
(1:29:24 AM) starwar009: Zonbie: Return it to us.
(1:29:49 AM) starwar009: 2 successes on it's attack, so failure there
(1:30:25 AM) starwar009: but it gets to attack one more time before your next turn. let's see if it gets lucky
(1:30:30 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>OK.
(1:30:35 AM) starwar009: 5 successes
(1:30:40 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Nope!
(1:32:48 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>OK, Kyra'll do the attacking-it thing.
(1:33:03 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>4,3,4,8,1, 5,2,9,1,4, 5,6,4,1   (2 successes)
(1:33:16 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>At wound penalties that's 2 + 6 = 8 − 3 = 5 damage. Rolling~
(1:33:24 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>4,4,6,4,3    (failure)
(1:33:26 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Nope.
(1:33:57 AM) starwar009: right, another attack from it then
(1:34:07 AM) starwar009: 2, nope
(1:34:14 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>OK, Kyra'll attack back.
(1:34:35 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>8,9,7,1,8, 9,3,1,9,3, 3,8,10,5   (9 successes)
(1:34:50 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>9 + 6 = 15 − 3 = 12
(1:34:58 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>1,4,9,6,6, 4,10,9,4,4, 4,3   (3 successes) = 3L
(1:35:34 AM) starwar009: ok, and that one's dead too.
(1:35:46 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Phew!
(1:35:54 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>So, any more rattling from in there?
(1:36:08 AM) starwar009: only problem is, there's definitely more in the crypt somewhere. You can hear them in the rooms further down the hallway, but none seem to be coming to you now
(1:36:47 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra is going to take a strategic measure. Her warform has fully functional wings. She is going to fly up towards the ceiling, and STAY hovering up there. Then, she'll head deeper towards those rooms.
(1:37:32 AM) starwar009: ok, how tall is her warform?
(1:38:44 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Mm… oh, right.
(1:39:46 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Several feet taller than Kyra is.
(1:40:19 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>She's got a max height of 2 or 3 feet off the ground, here…
(1:40:47 AM) starwar009: yeah, pretty much.
(1:41:15 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Well, she can still make flying ATTACKS, but for the time being she'll walk towards those other rooms.
(1:42:20 AM) starwar009: kk, as she walks down the hall she can hear the sound of stone being chipped at with something, but each room she passes she sees nothin in it until she reaches the end of the hall and the last room, where the sound is loudest
(1:42:28 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>And?
(1:42:57 AM) starwar009: oh, stepping right up to the room eh? roll perception + awareness
(1:43:27 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Oh, wow!
(1:43:27 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>7,10,5,10,8, 10,8   (9 successes)
(1:45:30 AM) starwar009: ok, as she steps up to the door she sees a foot by the doorway, and hears the creaking of muscle and bone as the zombie hiding on the other side of the doorway moves, lunging out to slash at her. She catches a glimps of a zombie chipping away at a wall in the crypt as well.
(1:45:47 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Now would be a good time to duck, methinks.
(1:45:50 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Also, Join Battle?
(1:46:23 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>(2,6,9,1,10, 3   (3 successes) < join battle)
(1:46:38 AM) starwar009: yes, join battle ^.^
(1:47:20 AM) starwar009: and 2 for the zombie, so you're up first again
(1:47:37 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra'll attack that thing with all she's got! Well, the normal what she's got.
(1:47:49 AM) starwar009: ^.^
(1:47:52 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>8,4,3,6,4, 6,9,7,4,6, 2,10,6,7   (6 successes)
(1:48:32 AM) starwar009: it's parry is 2
(1:49:01 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Ah, OK. Soak of 3L?
(1:49:29 AM) starwar009: 4L actually
(1:49:42 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>6 − 2 = 4 + 6 = 10 − 4 = 6 damage. (Re)rolling…
(1:49:56 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>3,6,6,1,9, 1   (1 success) = 1L
(1:50:30 AM) starwar009: ok, now it's the zombie's turn
(1:51:13 AM) starwar009: 2, so nothing
(1:51:20 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>OK. Kyra'll attack again~
(1:51:32 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Is the zombie still at -0?
(1:51:36 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>9,6,3,5,7, 6,7,8,1,4, 9,6,7,3   (6 successes)
(1:52:01 AM) starwar009: yep
(1:52:05 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>6 − 2 = 4 + 6 = 10 − 4 = 6 damage again.
(1:52:16 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>9,8,4,9,6, 6   (3 successes) = 3L
(1:53:16 AM) starwar009: ok, zombie's turn now ^.^
(1:53:31 AM) starwar009: 3, nope ^.^
(1:53:45 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>OK.
(1:53:51 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>1,1,7,1,4, 5,7,8,4,10, 4,6,3,2   (5 successes)
(1:54:07 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Still 2 PDV?
(1:54:20 AM) starwar009: 1 technically since it attacked
(1:54:53 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>5 − 1 = 4 + 6 = 10 − 4 = 6 damage.
(1:55:03 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>8,3,9,9,1, 10   (4 successes) = 4L.
(1:55:27 AM) starwar009: and that's enough to finish it off
(1:55:31 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Ah, good.
(1:55:43 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>So, there is the zombie chopping at the wall. Any others back there?
(1:56:02 AM) starwar009: nope
(1:57:46 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>What's behind the wall it's aiming at?
(1:58:24 AM) starwar009: Kyra has no idea. probably more earth
(1:58:35 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>OK. Can the zombie be snuck up upon?
(1:59:41 AM) starwar009: no. it's already aware of you. though it seems to be working at the wall and ignoring Kyra
(2:01:03 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra'll get a bit closer, scouting to see if there's anything else in the room besides that zombie.
(2:01:32 AM) starwar009: right, there's not, just a few more spots for burials.
(2:01:42 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Anything in them?
(2:01:48 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Or did Kyra already fight those?
(2:02:32 AM) starwar009: there are few caskets, but none seem disturbed, besides the two empty ones to the two already in the room
(2:02:43 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Oh, OK.
(2:03:06 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>So… this is probably ill-advised, but Kyra'll attempt to up and talk to the zombie.
(2:03:13 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>"Why are you digging?"
(2:04:23 AM) starwar009: Zombie:*ignores and keeps working*
(2:04:37 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra: "What are you trying to have returned?"
(2:05:07 AM) starwar009: Zombie:*ignores and keeps working*
(2:05:21 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra: Stop digging!
(2:05:39 AM) starwar009: Zombie:*ignores and keeps working*
(2:05:53 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Kyra will look at the wall. Is anything visible where the zombie's scratched it?
(2:06:40 AM) starwar009: no, but it's done more than scratch it, the wall has several cracks and deep gauge markes
(2:07:11 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>This is probably even MORE ill-advised but Kyra'll watch the zombie for a bit, try to see what it's digging for.
(2:08:07 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>It's not a load-bearing wall, is it?
(2:09:33 AM) starwar009: doesn't look like it, and a moment later the wall gives way to a dark hole, the zombie scrambling to get through the hole
(2:09:52 AM) ladymadsci: <HTML>Let's follow the zombie. Carefully.
(2:11:19 AM) starwar009: ok, we'll wrap up tonight then. ^.^

(9:40:23 PM) starwar009: heyas. so let's see, last we left off Kyra was following the zombie into the hole in the wall
(9:41:38 PM) starwar009: does she have any form of darkvision?
(9:43:18 PM) ladymadsci: Well… she's in warform, and she's not going to bust out of it.
(9:43:34 PM) ladymadsci: No dark vision— BUT she is glowing as though she's a silver bonfire, so it doesn't matter.
(9:43:43 PM) ladymadsci: (15-mote anima level)
(9:44:46 PM) starwar009: oh, righto then ^.^ there's a long surprisingly well kept hallway behind the wall, in fact it looks to be in better condition than the crypt walls, the zombie shuffling ahead down the hallway.
(9:45:07 PM) ladymadsci: Any side passages?
(9:46:33 PM) starwar009: Well the walls are perfectly smooth and seem to be made out of some sort of metal, with ornate designs running along it's length, there are no obvious doors exactly, but the designs all leave blank spots in the shape of doors at seemingly random incriments.
(9:47:15 PM) ladymadsci: Knocking on one of those blank spots— is it hollow-sounding?
(9:47:52 PM) starwar009: yes, but oddly, so is the rest of the wall
(9:49:33 PM) ladymadsci: Knocking harder on the wall. How thick does it feel?
(9:49:43 PM) ladymadsci: Also, examining the metal— what's it made of?
(9:50:39 PM) starwar009: it feels only a few inches thick, and you'll need to roll int + lore for what it's made of
(9:51:06 PM) ladymadsci: 2,1,6,7,2, 4,1,6   (1 success)
(9:51:50 PM) ladymadsci: One more thing. Anything out of the ordinary ahead in the tunnel? [roling per+aware] If 'no', Kyra will follow the zombie.
(9:51:51 PM) ladymadsci: 6,10,1,8,1, 5,10   (5 successes)
(9:53:02 PM) starwar009: ok, she has no idea what the wall is made of besides a metal. and there's nothing particularly strange down the hall, though it does come to an end at another one of those blank spots.
(9:53:13 PM) ladymadsci: …….OK, where'd the zombie go?
(9:53:34 PM) starwar009: it went through the blank spot.
(9:53:41 PM) ladymadsci: ........
(9:53:44 PM) starwar009: just walked right through it
(9:53:49 PM) ladymadsci: Kyra'll try touching THIS blank spot.
(9:54:06 PM) starwar009: it seems to be solid like the rest of the hall
(9:54:20 PM) ladymadsci: Kyra is going to close her eyes, and walk at the blank spot.
(9:55:03 PM) starwar009: she'll run into it, feeling a nice little bump on the forehead for the attempt
(9:55:20 PM) ladymadsci: OK, so...
(9:56:18 PM) ladymadsci: Kyra'll try kicking the spot. Not too hard.
(9:56:49 PM) starwar009: nothing happens besides hearing the same hollow thunk she did knocking on the walls earlier
(9:57:08 PM) ladymadsci: Close exam time. Are there signs of a secret door?
(9:58:17 PM) starwar009: roll perception + awareness or investigation
(9:58:40 PM) ladymadsci: 3,4,9,4,2, 3,1   (1 success)
(9:59:00 PM) starwar009: nope, seems perfectly smooth.
(10:00:20 PM) ladymadsci: So, um, is there ANYTHING else at the end of this hallway?
(10:01:01 PM) ladymadsci: While we're on this tangent, are there any signs that some sort of sorcery or essence thing is active here?
(10:02:19 PM) starwar009: no, there's just the wall, the designs, the blank spot and nothing else. As for the second, yes. some of the designs near the blank spot are glowing just a bit, but only near that blank spot
(10:02:33 PM) ladymadsci: Let's touch those designs and see what happens.
(10:03:26 PM) starwar009: nothing, though she can definitely feel a light bit of energy there.
(10:04:11 PM) ladymadsci: Okay, examining the designs. Do they serve a specific purpose? Magically, I mean.
(10:04:35 PM) ladymadsci: (I can roll Int+Occult if you want)
(10:04:41 PM) starwar009: please do ^.^
(10:05:03 PM) ladymadsci: 10,2,3,4,5, 2,7,8,1   (4 successes)
(10:06:35 PM) starwar009: righto, Kyra's pretty sure the designs are made out of an oricalcum alloy, made to transmit essence to various devices.
(10:07:28 PM) ladymadsci: Ah. So they're like pipes… can she trace where this set of designs winds to?
(10:08:31 PM) ladymadsci: Also, how many sets of design-pipes are in the tunnel?
(10:09:13 PM) starwar009: yes. the glowing designs seem to follow a pattern to five small circles that would fit a set of fingers from a persons left hand. and there are a lot of them. pretty much all the designs lead somewhere.
(10:09:37 PM) ladymadsci: Do the other designs have any transferral to other sets of small circles?
(10:11:07 PM) starwar009: yes. several of them do, most of them lead to a particular set of doors in the walls, but a few just go up into the ceiling or floor, or just dissapear, supposidly to the other side of the wall.
(10:11:27 PM) ladymadsci: The same set, or different circles/door pairs?
(10:11:45 PM) starwar009: different circles/door pairs.
(10:11:59 PM) ladymadsci: Ah, OK.
(10:12:31 PM) ladymadsci: Kyra will pick a random circle door— not the one at the end of the hallway— and touch the circles and see if anything happens. If nothing, she'll toss a mote of Essence down the conduit.
(10:13:18 PM) starwar009: touching the circles does nothing with the door, but once she uses a mote the metal in the blank spot seems to shimmer suddenly, showing a room on the other side.
(10:13:27 PM) ladymadsci: Well! Let's step through, then.
(10:13:47 PM) ladymadsci: Kyra: Oh dear. This presents several questions...
(10:14:04 PM) ladymadsci: BTW, how long has Kyra been down here?
(10:14:21 PM) starwar009: for about an hour
(10:15:36 PM) ladymadsci: Oh, OK.
(10:15:43 PM) starwar009: and as Kyra steps through she arrives in an office room of some sort, the door rattling as someone or something unlocks it. the door behind her seems to be a mirror leaning on the wall, those same finger circles traced lightly in the glass.
(10:15:51 PM) ladymadsci: Hmm.
(10:16:16 PM) ladymadsci: Well, she's still glowing and can't change out 'cept to bird. She'd still be glowing anyway.
(10:16:24 PM) ladymadsci: She'll get ready to stare down anyone who comes in.
(10:16:59 PM) starwar009: look to the chat ^.^
(10:17:14 PM) ladymadsci: Hohohoho

(10:08:35 PM) starwar009: ok, when we last left off Kyra was about to try and kill a zombie correct?
(10:08:45 PM) ladymadsci: Yep. Along w/ 3 guards.
(10:09:00 PM) starwar009: right. roll join battle please ^.^
(10:10:42 PM) ladymadsci: 2,5,9,7,7, 6   (3 successes)
(10:13:40 PM) starwar009: right, zombie goes first then.
(10:14:05 PM) starwar009: it'll attack one of the guards
(10:15:12 PM) ladymadsci: OK.
(10:16:37 PM) starwar009: ok, it misses, which means it's Kyra's turn
(10:17:35 PM) ladymadsci: OK! She'll attack it.
(10:18:17 PM) ladymadsci: 8,4,1,4,6, 5,9,1,1,10, 7,5,9,6,2    (6 successes)
(10:18:52 PM) starwar009: ok 2 over
(10:19:03 PM) ladymadsci: OK, and its soak is...?
(10:20:57 PM) starwar009: 6L
(10:22:00 PM) ladymadsci: 2 + 6 = 8 − 6 = 2 >> 5L minimum damage.
(10:22:09 PM) starwar009: kk
(10:22:14 PM) ladymadsci: 6,4,6,5,1    (failure) < Nope.
(10:22:40 PM) starwar009: speed on that attack
(10:22:41 PM) starwar009: ?
(10:22:46 PM) ladymadsci: 5.
(10:24:22 PM) starwar009: ok, the guards and zombie's turn again
(10:25:02 PM) ladymadsci: OK!
(10:25:40 PM) starwar009: it's attacking one of the guards. 11 successes
(10:25:52 PM) ladymadsci: Ooh.
(10:25:52 PM) starwar009: which will be 10 over
(10:25:57 PM) starwar009: so... lessee
(10:25:59 PM) ladymadsci: He's an extra?
(10:26:40 PM) starwar009: 7L dmg to roll, and no. just not a high DV
(10:28:06 PM) starwar009: ok, 1L to a guard and the guards' turns
(10:28:57 PM) starwar009: and all three guards missed
(10:29:31 PM) ladymadsci: OK. Kyra'll attack again.
(10:29:39 PM) starwar009: kk
(10:29:44 PM) ladymadsci: 10,3,4,2,2, 9,7,1,6,1, 9,9,8,9,4    (8 successes)
(10:30:02 PM) ladymadsci: 8 − 4 = 4 + 6 = 10 − 6 = 4 >> 5L. Rolling...
(10:30:14 PM) ladymadsci: 1,9,10,2,3    (2 successes) < 2L damage.
(10:31:55 PM) starwar009: kk, guards are up
(10:32:40 PM) starwar009: 1 over on the last guard's attack
(10:33:00 PM) starwar009: so 3L to roll
(10:38:19 PM) starwar009: that did 2L, causing the zombie to jerk in pain. and it's the zombie's turn. it doesn't attack... instead...
(10:40:36 PM) starwar009: it reaches it's hand out for the door, those little finger markings, pressing it's hand against it, and a moment later the door shimmers.
(10:40:46 PM) ladymadsci: Kyra: [braces herself!]
(10:41:08 PM) ladymadsci: (say, how high is the ceiling here?)
(10:41:36 PM) starwar009: about 8 feet.
(10:42:40 PM) ladymadsci: So she's filling the space. OK. [le sigh]
(10:44:53 PM) starwar009: *nods*
(10:45:39 PM) ladymadsci: OK, so… the door.
(10:46:03 PM) starwar009: the door shimmers and a moment later it's gone, on the other side is what looks to be at least a full Scale of the artifact raiders, one of which has their hand pressed to the other side of what would have been the door.
(10:46:30 PM) ladymadsci: Kyra: Well, funk.
(10:46:57 PM) ladymadsci: (how many is a scale?)
(10:47:42 PM) starwar009: a scale is at most 75 troops, this is at least 50
(10:48:47 PM) ladymadsci: How wide is the formation?
(10:49:22 PM) starwar009: wider than the cave entrance. Which is about 4 feet wide, just enugh room for two people to fit side by side tightly
(10:49:33 PM) ladymadsci: Perfect.
(10:49:39 PM) ladymadsci: Kyra: Protect me…!
(10:49:42 PM) ladymadsci: Sorcery time!
(10:50:37 PM) starwar009: hee, righto. Guards: y-yes ma'am.*they rush to fill the gap* (we'll do this outside strict combat time. rolling how well they hold up against the enemy while you're working on casting.)
(10:51:20 PM) ladymadsci: Kyra will take a Shape Terrestrial Sorcery action, meaning she basically goes iconic again.
(10:52:21 PM) ladymadsci: Assuming nothing goes wrong, she'll cast Mists of Eventide on the center of the group.
(10:52:30 PM) ladymadsci: The spell is area-of-effect over a radius of 5 meters.
(10:52:38 PM) ladymadsci: *5 yards.
(10:52:52 PM) ladymadsci: It's active for 15 ticks in that area (which is all misty).
(10:53:32 PM) ladymadsci: Targets have to take a Sta+Res roll at difficulty (Kyra's Essence) [4] to resist the effects of the mist for 5 seconds, so 3 rolls total if they're all in it for the full period.
(10:53:37 PM) ladymadsci: If they fail, they fall asleep.
(10:53:44 PM) ladymadsci: Going to dinner now, Demo...
(10:54:05 PM) starwar009: kk, sorry for the slowness. multitasking a bit ^.^;
(11:12:42 PM) starwar009: anyway, when you get back, sadly the guards botched their roll, so the swamping press of the artifact raiders presses past them with ease, crushing them under their feet and quickly closing on Kyra, with the intent to attack. What will she do?
(11:19:49 PM) ladymadsci: She just needs 5 ticks to cast… how long'd that take?
(11:20:39 PM) starwar009: hmmmm... I'd say not long enough, but I'll give you a chance to roll int + occult to see if she can cast it fast enough to beat them to arriving at her
(11:27:32 PM) ladymadsci: 4,8,4,5,1, 5,4,9,9   (3 successes)
(11:29:16 PM) starwar009: nope, before she can finish the spell the enemy is on her. They don't seem to be attacking, just trying to restrain and surround her.
(11:29:37 PM) ladymadsci: And this is where Dodge DV while casting comes in.
(11:30:43 PM) starwar009: ok, so she's trying to avoid being grabbed. lessee ^.^
(11:35:44 PM) starwar009: ok, so her DV is at -2, luckily she's not fully surounded yet, so that penalty doesn't also apply.
(11:35:59 PM) starwar009: and rolling grapple
(11:36:32 PM) starwar009: 4 successes
(11:36:50 PM) ladymadsci: Her DV is holding at 4, so… she dodges.
(11:37:12 PM) starwar009: nice. cast your spell
(11:37:36 PM) ladymadsci: Mists of Eventide, aimed so that the AoE is just outside of Kyra's location and hits the bulk of the raiders.
(11:37:53 PM) starwar009: right, pg number?
(11:38:10 PM) ladymadsci: Er, hang on...
(11:39:41 PM) ladymadsci: White Treatise p53.
(11:44:44 PM) starwar009: 2 successes for them to resist, a large swath of the artifact raiders simply collapse at her feet. leaving maybe 10 more still standing at the mouth of the cave.
(11:44:50 PM) ladymadsci: By the way, is there somewhere nearby that the ceiling gets taller?
(11:45:48 PM) starwar009: outside the cave, and about 15 yards back there was a shaft leading up
(11:46:06 PM) ladymadsci: Wait, so this is a door to the OUTSIDE? [didn't realize that]
(11:47:07 PM) starwar009: yes it was. sorry I didn't give that detail ^.^;
(11:47:40 PM) ladymadsci: Hmm. I have an idea....
(11:47:56 PM) ladymadsci: OK, once the mists are cleared, Kyra will stunt.
(11:48:01 PM) starwar009: ok
(11:51:01 PM) ladymadsci: Even though the ceiling was a bit too low to properly take to the air, Kyra started running, streamlining her body as she bulled through the raiders, bursting into the streets of Denandsor. When she was in the air, she turned, ran faster, and flapped her wings, taking her off the ground as she screamed triumphantly; the screech of the kite, her spirit-animal.
(11:52:28 PM) starwar009: right, that's a 2 die stunt and will require a successfull Dex + athletics roll
(11:53:17 PM) ladymadsci: OK. Tacking on Willpower (Conviction) to roll… = 6 + 1 + 3 + 2 = 12 dice.
(11:53:30 PM) starwar009: kk
(11:53:49 PM) ladymadsci: 9,8,6,4,5, 2,7,7,7,3, 3,2   (5 successes)
(11:55:21 PM) starwar009: ok, success. you manage to break free, flying up into the air over the Empty City, seeing the few soldiers still milling about the entrance in what looks like the side of a tall hill in the center of the city.

(10:07:05 PM) starwar009: wally, had we done anything with Grang by the end of last night?
(10:07:26 PM) wallycaine: Not that I remember
(10:07:40 PM) wallycaine: He was still standing guard... I think whisper was still asleep?
(10:08:18 PM) starwar009: right, roll perception + awareness please ^.^
(10:08:47 PM) wallycaine: Sure thing, give me a second
(10:09:46 PM) wallycaine: Four successes
(10:10:25 PM) wallycaine: Also, reminder of "Expected Pain" charm
(10:11:06 PM) wallycaine: Pg 173 Sidereal's handbook
(10:11:49 PM) wallycaine: Oh, and final question... how long has it been?
(10:11:51 PM) starwar009: right, let's see...
(10:11:58 PM) starwar009: since when?
(10:12:11 PM) wallycaine: ...we last saw grang, I guess?
(10:12:25 PM) wallycaine: Just figuring out essence recovery
(10:13:19 PM) starwar009: right, well Grang and Sai had been sitting with Whisper and already got 4m back by then. this has been another hour we'll say
(10:13:41 PM) wallycaine: Alright... just wanted to make sure I factored in my hearthstone into that
(10:14:41 PM) starwar009: *nods* more than fair enough
(10:14:49 PM) wallycaine: ^_^
(10:16:04 PM) starwar009: ok then, Grang realizes suddenly that the hand is more than a hand and it's about to attack Whisper.
(10:17:09 PM) wallycaine: Ahh... Grang will move between the hand and Whisper, while kicking the bed to wake her up
(10:17:26 PM) wallycaine: Was that my charm, or just good noticing skills? :D
(10:18:00 PM) starwar009: the charm. he would have noticed the box moving if it was just noticing, but the charm seems more specific.
(10:18:11 PM) wallycaine: Fair enough
(10:18:40 PM) starwar009: Whisper: hhhuh?!*is already jumping to her feet and reaching for her bow, even half asleep.*
(10:19:26 PM) wallycaine: Grang: It seems taunting was not all on the beast's mind. *raises bow and attempts to put an arrow through the box, hopefully pinning the hand to the table*
(10:21:18 PM) starwar009: right, roll dex + archery
(10:21:42 PM) wallycaine: Should I include the attack bonus for my powerbow?
(10:22:04 PM) starwar009: yes
(10:22:42 PM) wallycaine: Seven successes
(10:23:54 PM) starwar009: ok, it hits the box and the skittering in the box gets louder for a moment before stopping entirely. Whisper is standing to the side of her bed, arrow notched and pulled back.
(10:26:23 PM) wallycaine: Grang: ...I'm not sure I trust the thing to be stopped by that little.
(10:27:41 PM) starwar009: Whisper: me neither. Think we shuld take turns shooting it until it stops playing possum?
(10:28:02 PM) wallycaine: Grang: I was going to poke it while you watched, but that could work too.
(10:29:52 PM) starwar009: Whisper: better to test it from back here I say.
(10:30:09 PM) wallycaine: Grang: Fair enough. Your turn.
(10:30:21 PM) starwar009: rolling her attack
(10:31:37 PM) starwar009: she got 5, her arrow slamming into the box, sending it skittering nce again before going still. She gives Grang a deadpan look. "Yes, because if you just use the same trick again we shall surely fall for it this time"
(10:32:15 PM) wallycaine: Grang chuckles. "Surely."
(10:32:19 PM) wallycaine: 12 successes
(10:35:45 PM) starwar009: that's a hit on the box too, ripping it lightly, allowing you to see inside it... it's not a hand anymore. it looks like a curled up millipede... only with spikes all over it's back. Grang realizes those spikes are about to start moving... fast, in all directions. shot off the millipede like a small barrage of arrows
(10:35:52 PM) starwar009: since he has that charm
(10:36:25 PM) wallycaine: Grang: *tackles Whisper to the ground*
(10:36:38 PM) starwar009: Whisper: oof?!
(10:36:50 PM) starwar009: alright, guessing you're not trying to dodge then?
(10:37:52 PM) wallycaine: Well... I figure, if it's on the table, there are three directions the spikes are going to go... up, to the sides, and down... and the ones that would go below the level of the table are going to be blocked by it
(10:38:13 PM) wallycaine: So he's trying to get both of them below the level of the spikes
(10:38:38 PM) starwar009: right, let's see then...
(10:38:58 PM) wallycaine: And protecting Whisper with his body, since he's armored and she isn't
(10:39:00 PM) wallycaine: If it comes to that
(10:41:19 PM) starwar009: right. behind a table... the table is hit by several spikes as the millipede thing skitters along the floor your direction.
(10:42:27 PM) wallycaine: Join battle, I'd guess?
(10:44:57 PM) starwar009: yep
(10:45:05 PM) wallycaine: Alright then ^_^
(10:45:25 PM) wallycaine: ...no dice
(10:46:09 PM) starwar009: no dice?
(10:46:45 PM) wallycaine: No successes
(10:46:54 PM) starwar009: ah, righto
(10:47:51 PM) wallycaine: Oh well
(10:49:43 PM) starwar009: one moment. multitasking! ^.^;
(10:49:51 PM) wallycaine: Yep... tis fine
(10:58:08 PM) starwar009: ok... so that puts grang on tick 4
(10:59:20 PM) starwar009: whisper will go first, and she's jumping to her feet and shooting the millipede using her dex excelleny to add 2 dice to her roll
(11:00:36 PM) starwar009: 12 successes vs it's dodge of 6 so 6 over
(11:00:44 PM) wallycaine: Niiiice
(11:01:12 PM) starwar009: soak of 5L and her attackk being.... 14L to roll
(11:01:19 PM) wallycaine: ^_^
(11:01:38 PM) starwar009: uhm... *note to self, build more durable enemies.*
(11:01:48 PM) starwar009: 9L is her dmg roll so it's dead.
(11:01:56 PM) wallycaine: *snerk*
(11:02:08 PM) wallycaine: Well, it was supposed to be an assasination tool
(11:02:14 PM) wallycaine: They tend to be glass cannons
(11:02:43 PM) starwar009: that's true. and you will note that the wood around where the barbs struck is melting like ice exposed to flame
(11:04:05 PM) wallycaine: Grang: *looks at the wood* ...That's not good. I'm thinking we should get the body out of here before it explodes into acid or something
(11:06:13 PM) starwar009: Whipser: Good idea.... how do we do that?
(11:06:28 PM) wallycaine: Grang: ...I was hoping you'd have an idea.
(11:06:55 PM) wallycaine: Grang: *settles for trying to pick it up between two arrows, and hoping that doesn't set it off*
(11:09:19 PM) starwar009: hee. luckily no one seemed to think to boobytrap it, it is easily picked up and disposed of... where do you put it exactly?
(11:09:37 PM) wallycaine: ...Metal trashcan
(11:09:40 PM) wallycaine: With a lid
(11:09:57 PM) starwar009: heh, righto.
(11:10:07 PM) starwar009: luckily this is a scavenger town, so they have those
(11:10:18 PM) wallycaine: ^_^
(11:10:51 PM) starwar009: alright, and now Grang and Whisper get to relax some more ^.^ until the next thing tries to kill them

=====Kyra=======

(10:27:17 PM) starwar009: let's see, when we last left of Kyra had escaped the ambush at the tunnel entrance in the city. and was flying high. From her position she can see that there's still a good ten or so of the artifact raiders making their way into the hillside.
(10:30:25 PM) starwar009: so, what shall she be doing from there?
(10:30:39 PM) ladymadsci: So, um, the empty city. What's down there?
(10:33:23 PM) starwar009: perception + awareness roll please ^.^ also: what's her current wound penalty? because the miasma got a 5 on it's mental influence roll to chase her off
(10:33:35 PM) ladymadsci: She is at −1, leaving her MDV at 6.
(10:34:05 PM) starwar009: righto. so she's not chased off
(10:38:17 PM) starwar009: hey jane, can you invite everyone to a chatroom? i can't set them up from my screen and msw chat seems to be down
(10:43:02 PM) ladymadsci: 4,6,8,5,1, 3,9   (2 successes)
(10:43:25 PM) starwar009: ok
(11:20:45 PM) starwar009: let me know when you're back
(11:33:13 PM) ladymadsci: Back.
(11:35:08 PM) starwar009: coolies. As kyra looks down into the city she can see a small contingent of the artifact raiders, maybe an additional 30 or so, heading for the hill, other than that, the city seems to be utterly quiet. outside the edge of the city's miasma though, she can see a large group of some sort gathering, but not pressing inwards, they seem to be setting up tents
(11:35:56 PM) ladymadsci: She'll fly over to the tents and try to see what's going on.
(11:37:21 PM) starwar009: alright, the group setting up tents seems to be a small group of Emperial troops. At least 50 soldiers, some support personelle, and jusdging by the fancy arm/clothes a good ten or so dragon blooded
(11:37:29 PM) ladymadsci: ABOUT TURN.
(7/1/2012 12:06:15 AM) starwar009: eventually she'll make it back to the hotel room where Whisper and Grang are waiting.
(12:08:55 AM) ladymadsci: OK.
(12:09:36 AM) ladymadsci: Kyra: [worn out, tattoos glowing, ENTIRE BODY glowing, very much drained, bleeding from 3 open wounds] BLUH.

=====Zoe======
(11:52:30 PM) starwar009: what's Zoe's mdv again?
(11:53:07 PM) madgirlkate: 4
(11:53:47 PM) starwar009: ok, the book got 4 too, so no affect on her. the table of contents of the book is as follows:(one sec)
(11:53:58 PM) madgirlkate: kk
(11:56:41 PM) starwar009: introduction, ch1: the concious mind, ch2: the unconcious mind, ch3:the impossible mind, ch4:the mindless, ch5:beyond the mind, ch.6:dsjghad;loi, ch7:the reality of the mind, ch8: the mind of reality, ch9: the mind beyond reality, ch10: the mind shapes reality, epilogue.
(11:59:19 PM) starwar009: ch.6 is written in a language Zoe does not understand, but gives her a headache and seems to make her eyes water
(11:59:57 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I don't care how 'poetic' it is, changing languages mid-book is a stupid idea.
(7/1/2012 12:00:33 AM) starwar009: ok, what's she looking for in the index?
(12:01:07 AM) madgirlkate: Any words in the weird language- she wants to see how they fit into the alphabetation.
(12:01:15 AM) madgirlkate: And/or what they're grouped under.
(12:03:20 AM) starwar009: they're not.
(12:03:31 AM) starwar009: all the words in the index are in old realm
(12:03:55 AM) madgirlkate: Words that claim to belong in chapter 6?
(12:04:03 AM) starwar009: nope.
(12:04:20 AM) madgirlkate: Nopes as in they're in English, or nope as in there aren't any?
(12:04:26 AM) madgirlkate: *old realm, not English
(12:09:11 AM) starwar009: there's no words that claim to be from ch 6
(12:09:18 AM) starwar009: all the words are in old realm
(12:09:30 AM) madgirlkate: Hmmmmm.
(12:10:58 AM) madgirlkate: She'll look at the end of chapter 5, and see if it seems normal.
(12:12:35 AM) starwar009: the end of ch.5 seems to be almost entirely in that other language as well, though a few old realm words pop up here and there
(12:13:34 AM) madgirlkate: Alright, she'll flip back to where it is mostly old realm, and see if the grammatical structure is affected.
(12:14:28 AM) starwar009: it is. as the chapter progresses, it becomes less coherent.
(12:14:40 AM) madgirlkate: Same grammar, though?
(12:14:47 AM) madgirlkate: Ooh, different grammar.
(12:14:58 AM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *this is not very helpful*
(12:15:06 AM) starwar009: no, the grammar starts getting... creative as it goes as well in ch.5
(12:23:18 AM) starwar009: back at the intro the author explains that he is a solar fascinated with the workings of the mind, psychology, and how an exalts mind is augmented by exalting, as well as other interactions of stimuli on the mind. It's very brief, but a second intro seems to have been sort of stictched into the book, obviously not from the original, in which another intro explains that the original writer of the book went mad and that several others reading it have gone mad as well, that only extremely experienced solars should read more than a little and that a version of the book that does not drive people mad has been released for general consumption
(12:25:47 AM) starwar009: the book was printed on the blessed isle, during the height of the first age
(12:26:04 AM) madgirlkate: Is this from the first printing?
(12:26:41 AM) starwar009: this isn't a printing, this is the original. the one that would have been used for printings
(12:27:19 AM) madgirlkate: Ooooh. Gotcha.
(12:40:46 AM) starwar009: rereading th intro? looking for something specific?
(12:41:26 AM) madgirlkate: Eh, just so she remembers it better. Although some comment about 'oh yeah the problem is that chapter six is suddenly in a different language and made of wyld' would be nice, but she's not really expecting one.
(12:48:58 AM) madgirlkate: Also looking for anything written in the margins.
(12:49:17 AM) starwar009: of the intro?
(12:50:18 AM) madgirlkate: Of the whole book. She's flipping slowly.
(12:53:33 AM) starwar009: righto. nothing in ch1 or 2, ch 3 has a few about how exalting affects the mind, basically trying to work out how to word things or clarifying statements, ch 4 has a few more of the same, ch5 however is covered in margin notes, like the author was having a conversation with themselves... and someone else using the author's handwriting, eventually all the notes become the strange writing, though she can see him discussing the writing with himself or the other person for part of the chapter
(12:54:44 AM) madgirlkate: Progress!
(12:55:01 AM) madgirlkate: What are the notes discussing?
(12:57:08 AM) starwar009: they're discussing the idea of how much the world restricts what we think, how the physical form of the brain restrains the full bredth of thoughts otherwise achievable, then it moves to how meditating in the wyld helps break down those restrictions, then moves to discussing how writing and reading the new language he's developed lets one think in a more expanded... boundriless manner
(1:01:50 AM) starwar009: oh and as she's reading the notes more, the words in the other language sort of start making sense... they sort of inspire images and concepts in her mind, it's not clear what each of them mean, but the more there are together the clearer their meaning is. also, put a point of limit on zoe's limit counter

(7:07:04 PM) starwar009: let's see, what part was Zoe reading when we left off...
(7:07:29 PM) madgirlkate: She was at the 'squinting at chapter 5 for long enough makes it start to make sense' bit, I believe.
(7:09:07 PM) madgirlkate: I believe she got a point of limit, too.
(7:13:13 PM) starwar009: righto.
(7:51:45 PM) starwar009: Zoe's still reading right?
(7:51:51 PM) madgirlkate: Yup.
(7:53:07 PM) starwar009: side note: I love Zoe's logic in all this.
(7:53:21 PM) madgirlkate: Pffff.
(7:57:31 PM) starwar009: alright, she's about done with ch. 5's notes, and the words are making more sense to her by now, well I say making sense, I mean more that she can pretty much read them now, though they're still disjointed on their own in the notes. but it seems he's writing in the notes about how he's getting close to getting around the barriers of his physical brain to expanded thought, but he seems to be arguing with himself about the possible dangers and how those limits might be important.
(8:17:04 PM) starwar009: and as Zoe begins reading Ch. 6 I'll need to roll something. one moment ^.^
(8:17:16 PM) madgirlkate: Ooooh~
(8:17:41 PM) starwar009: what's her mdv again?
(8:18:09 PM) madgirlkate: integrity+willpower+essence over 2 rounded down? 4
(8:18:26 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: If I fall unconcious I'm going to make a bad hostage. Hopefully that will not happen.
(8:27:13 PM) madgirlkate: ...I feel reasonably confident in stating that you were not expecting this outcome.
(8:30:26 PM) starwar009: ok, the book got 9 successes, that's 5 over her mdv, once through the doorway Zoe will start feeling a bit lightheaded, everything seems a bit... out of proportion, like she's seeing everything through a fisheye lense. and her fascination with the book has become an obsession, she's reading it as fast as she can, the strange wordw evoking their images easier than before and the faster she reads the more sense they make to her. Though she's objectively aware that the images don't really make sense, sort of an emtional/logical disconnect. it feels perfect sensible, but it's intellectually not. (indeed it wasn't something I was expecting, but I know what I'm doing with it already~ )
(8:31:05 PM) madgirlkate: Do I have the option to do the point of willpower thing at this point?
(8:31:32 PM) starwar009: you do. One of the good things about exalted is that so long as they have willpower, that option exists.
(8:32:00 PM) madgirlkate: Kewl. Spending a point of willpower. Do I gain the limit, or does the point I already got from the book count for that?
(8:32:26 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *mind alteration stuff is interesting, but currently impractical, unfortunately*
(8:32:45 PM) starwar009: the earlier point counts. no need for more. though at this point the willpower is just holding off the obsession, it'll be back later.
(8:32:57 PM) madgirlkate: Yeah, I figured.
(8:34:24 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Incidentally, is this book enthralling people who read it an intended consequence given the material, an accidental consequence given the material, a random consequence given the material, is the material completely irrelevent, or is this not something that you are knowledgable about?
(8:36:14 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: I honestly hath no idea of the workings of thine book m'lady. Only that it doth have a feel of the wyld about it. Tis not a strong feeling, but tis clever and ensnaring.
(8:37:30 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Well, I believe it to be your wyld in the book. Do you know a remedy for wyld-induced comas by way of essence damage?
(8:41:19 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: No I dost not m'lady. Now, if tis not too troubling, where tis this possibility located? (you're back in that second overseer's office waiting room)
(8:45:23 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: You have to put a mote of essence into that wall, which will open a passage. Proceed through the passage and we will be in a watchtower, where I believe we can see the cloud. From there, put another mote of essence in the mirror, that opens another passage, and through that is where we came from, where the ceiling was collapsing due to molten metal and a large dark cloud that smelled of wyld and causes physical damage was pursuing us.
(8:47:48 PM) madgirlkate: (that was all INTENDED to be accurate)
(8:47:54 PM) madgirlkate: (I don't know if I misremembered something)
(8:49:19 PM) starwar009: you did ^.^; the overseer's office/waiting room connects to that hallway you were in a moment ago, it has the window that overlooks the facility, then that has a door that goes to the facility where the shadow thing was hunting
(8:50:31 PM) madgirlkate: ...how is there a window overlooking a facility when we're underground?
(8:52:57 PM) starwar009: the facility is underground, or at least has a feeling of depth about it that implies underground, but you're in a giant dome of magical materials, the office set into the side of it, and opposite that office is a facility set against the opposite wall about midway up the dome, and at the center of the dome is a destroyed fascility.
(8:53:14 PM) madgirlkate: Gotcha.
(8:53:24 PM) madgirlkate: Ok, Zoe will indicate the correct directions, at any rate.
(8:54:05 PM) starwar009: righto ^.^
(8:56:02 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade:*looks out into the dome and makes a mildly nausuous face* this place doth reek of stagnation. a cage of absolute form. Tis... wrong. *examines the cloud* ah, this tis not what we seek, but tis a product of it, a defense, a limb. Tis in this cage of form. *bows to Zoe* Thou hast proven honest m'lady, I thank thee
(8:57:19 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Ahh, so would this perhaps be related to the project to cage wyld and use it as a power source that took place here a few hundred years ago?
(8:57:40 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: And you are welcome, but I really fail to see what I would have gained by lying.
(8:58:11 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: *looks apalled* ...it may be best, m'lady if though dost not mention that to mine lord.
(8:59:30 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *sighs* Is this the part where, upon realizing that a group of peope who are all dead did something bad, someone decideds that the correct course of action is to act violently toward their descendents, or people who may not be their descendents but are in some other way are related to them?
(9:00:25 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Regardless, if that is what you want, I believe we passed a control room of some sort while we were fleeing, so that may be a recommended place to look next.
(9:02:42 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: Tis exactly that m'lady. Tis not my role to play, but mine lord wilst feel compelled to express outrage equal to that which didst occur here.
(9:04:37 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Well, since doing it in the first place got everyone involved killed or insane, I believe that limits his options in the literal sense to injuring himself and destroying this underground factory area.
(9:04:49 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Although somehow I doubt that will be what occurs.
(9:06:00 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I suppose at the very least I can explain that I helped remedy the situation, which may help him feel more favorable to the people of this generation. If we go through the mirror, will you be able to keep the cloud and molten metal from killing me as we travel?
(9:08:16 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade:*shakes head* no, m'lady. The cloud wilst not strike at me, but you art another matter and I coudst not keep it at bay easily. But we hath done as needed. We need only return to mine lord and they shalt remove that which is ours.
(9:10:55 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Are there any options which do not involve him killing a bunch of unrelated people because the people involved in the initial project were all inconsiderate enough to die before he could prevent them from dying as a course of their project so that he could kill them? Or some sort of enslavement retribution, I suppose. I am not sure of the particulars, but I still believe that it would be ideal to find a solution for his desire for revenge that does not involve a number of things that are not revenge but nonetheless inconvenient for a large number of people.
(9:12:21 PM) madgirlkate: ...Zoe should not be allowed to do diplomacy.
(9:13:15 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: ... you couldst talk to him? Thou art most reasonable with thine words, mayhaps mine lord will accept your reasoning?
(9:13:35 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: If he seeks to deter people from trying it in the future, I believe publicizing the 'everyone who tried this died' result would suffice.
(9:13:57 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *sighs* I will attempt it, although I find that many do not listen to reason when I provide it.
(9:16:02 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: I doth thank thee m'lady. Now, shalt we return and bring new to mine lord?
(9:16:58 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I believe that would be a good idea, yes. Do you have anything that would prevent me from continuing to be enthralled by this book, perchance?
(9:18:21 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: nay m'lady. Mine Lord might, but I believe thou art strong enough to break it's enchanment thinself. I hath seen more clever wyld beaten by children of the moon.
(9:19:13 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Yes, but I was wondering if it were necessary. Do you have a bag to put the book in after I break it?
(9:20:18 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: yes I doth have a travel satchel.
(9:20:46 PM) madgirlkate: ...wait, can I spend another point of willpower to overcome the first thing? *not sure if I have to do that at the time it's declared*
(9:21:11 PM) starwar009: you had to do that before this. This is pretty much an expansion of the first thing.
(9:21:34 PM) madgirlkate: Wait, your statement confuses me.
(9:22:03 PM) madgirlkate: There was the firs thing, which was 'I have to read the book', then the second thing, which was 'OMG OBSESSED' which Zoe spent a point of willpower to make it go away.
(9:22:12 PM) madgirlkate: So what's the expansion of the first thing?
(9:23:26 PM) starwar009: the obsession is an expansion of the first 'I have to read the book' thing, so it's not a seperate thing. at this point she can only set aside the obsession for a while until she figures out how to get rid of it or succumbs
(9:24:36 PM) madgirlkate: Oooh, so spending a point of willpower doesn't actually make it go away? Huh.
(9:24:45 PM) madgirlkate: Can I roll int+lore to figure out what the heck he's talking about?
(9:25:17 PM) starwar009: no, it just makes it not actively working on her. it'll be back later when the willpower point runs out.
(9:25:35 PM) madgirlkate: *has no idea how the mental influence rules work*
(9:25:52 PM) madgirlkate: Anyway, roll to figure out what the heck he is talking about?
(9:26:07 PM) starwar009: yes.
(9:26:40 PM) madgirlkate: ...shoot. If my -0 health levels are full, does that mean I'm at -0, or -1?
(9:30:03 PM) starwar009: -0
(9:30:16 PM) starwar009: you're at -1 when you have dmg in that square
(9:30:18 PM) madgirlkate: 7 successes
(9:30:21 PM) madgirlkate: Ooooh, ok.
(9:37:12 PM) starwar009: ok, just to be clear, what thing is she trying to figure out exactly?
(9:38:00 PM) madgirlkate: Well, he said she might be strong enough to overcome the book thing, but he didn't say how. So she's trying to figure out how.
(9:39:41 PM) starwar009: ok, just making sure. she's pretty sure he means basically riding out the urge, either by ignoring it until it fades, like most addictions, or pushing through and reading the book while maintaining her sanity, so she meets it's requirement while not being coma-y
(9:40:36 PM) madgirlkate: ...is the second of those two options supposed to make sense?
(9:44:18 PM) starwar009: yes, understanding the source of the possible coma and resisting it's effects, as exalts do on occasion when compared to mortals, would allow her to continue reading and understanding the rest of the book, the compulsion doesn't seem, to Zoe's mind, to be trying to make her read to a coma, so much as read for the sake of reading the book so it's understood, like there's a presence in the book that desires her to comprehend it. assuming that makes sense ^.^
(9:44:55 PM) madgirlkate: Aaaah, gotcha.
(9:45:06 PM) madgirlkate: I thought you meant 'if you read the book then you won't go nuts from wanting to read the book'.
(9:45:41 PM) madgirlkate: Welp, hopefully Zoe can read fast. Or I suppose if she runs out of willpower she can ask this Lord person to deal with it.
(9:46:52 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: As an additional note, when you say I should not mention the experimental restraint of Wyld to your lord, do you mean that I should not tell him and let him find out on his own, I should not tell him and he will not notice when he comes to get it, or were you simply reacting to the thought of what he was liable to do when he found out?
(9:50:17 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: Tis the last one m'lady. I twould hope my lord doth not realize, but they art not likely to see this and not relize what transpired.
(9:51:17 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Noted. I suppose I may as well tell them beforehand, then, unless you think that constitutes breaking my promise to Sai.
(9:52:01 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: no, for I wilst be there and therefore you will come to no harm, as per mine Promise.
(9:52:55 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Noted. Is it a far walk? I am uncertain if walking on a foot damaged in this manner will cause it additional damage.
(9:54:07 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade:*undoes Zoe's bindings and picks her up* That ought avoid any undue damage m'lady. Tis a fair walk from here through the tunnels and the city.
(9:54:34 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I could probably look over it myself, which would not require you carrying me at the expense of a slight delay.
(9:55:13 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: That tis acceptable. *sets her down carefully*
(9:55:50 PM) madgirlkate: Med check! If I do that while reading, what's the penalty?
(9:56:13 PM) starwar009: -2
(9:56:29 PM) madgirlkate: 4 successes.
(9:57:07 PM) starwar009: ok, it looks like it's done bleeding, and assuming she doesn't jump from a great height, it's probably not going to get any worse any time soon
(9:57:38 PM) madgirlkate: Do I have anything to bandage it with or anything like that?
(9:59:39 PM) starwar009: not specifically, you could use strips of cloth if you like
(10:00:07 PM) madgirlkate: *not sure if I have any cloth* Eh, Zoe will just walk on it and be grumpy because her foot hurts.
(10:00:27 PM) starwar009: hee
(10:00:29 PM) starwar009: righto
(10:00:38 PM) madgirlkate: She's also going to take out a pen and write "is this a valid form of communication?" in one of the margins of the book as they walk.
(10:00:52 PM) madgirlkate: ...after telling Graceful Blade that it is fine if she walks.
(10:02:18 PM) starwar009: righto.
(10:02:41 PM) starwar009: nothing happens as a result of her writing.
(10:02:45 PM) starwar009: and she's reading still?
(10:02:51 PM) madgirlkate: Yeah.
(10:03:16 PM) madgirlkate: She'll make a note that while communication via margins appeared valid for the original author, it does not seem to work for her.
(10:03:50 PM) madgirlkate: Also another note with an arrow pointing to the page text, reading 'This is a good example of the section that the introduction warned you not to read. You should not be reading it.'
(10:09:21 PM) starwar009: right, as she continues into chapter 6 the words switch entirely to the odd script and it's basically like she's experiencing another person's reality while she walks. They seem to be conveying the experience of meditating in the wyld as well as other ways to expand one's mind beyond the normal limits, meaning Zoe is experiencing the sensation of having her mind, experience thoughts and concepts usually literally impossible for her to comprehend, it's almost painfull being able to comprehend these things, but at the same time it's like being a two dimensional person being able to see the three dimensional form in three diminsions, not just the limited diminsions they were working with before. please roll either int + integrety or stamina + resistance
(10:10:37 PM) madgirlkate: 2 successes
(10:10:44 PM) madgirlkate: *having fun with the 'action' part of this*
(10:11:11 PM) starwar009: good to hear. Zoe takes 1B though right now.
(10:11:42 PM) starwar009: experienced as a sort of feeling like her mind is trying to squeeze back in on itself to it's normal dimensions, but it's overcompensating.
(10:11:50 PM) madgirlkate: Makes sense.
(10:12:14 PM) starwar009: will she stop or continue?
(10:12:53 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *is only at -1 health level, and already has the goal of 'not having everyone murder each other', so might as well continue*
(10:13:15 PM) madgirlkate: She's also hoping that if she finishes reading this section, she can disarm the book.
(10:17:55 PM) starwar009: righto, the chapter continues, pushing her mind to expand even further past her limits, showing her a vision of reading a primordial's scroll, something she knows is such because that's part of the person's knowledge and it's like she's getting some of that knowledge by osmosis, but the scroll discusses how the primordials made creation from the chaos of the wyld and gave it form, a process she only understands in a manner akin to knowing food provides energy via digestion without knowing how exactly it does so, even with her mind expanded as it is it barely makes sense. Roll int + integrety or stamina + resistance again
(10:18:40 PM) madgirlkate: 3 successes
(10:18:57 PM) starwar009: alright, no dmg this time.
(10:19:05 PM) madgirlkate: Awesomesauce.
(10:22:25 PM) starwar009: her mind seems to deal with things well that time and as she continues the book takes her mind even wider, explaining the nature of the wyld and it's literally infinate possibilities, how it is a place of everything possible all existing at once, talking about some of the things that exist within it that couldn't be understood if one were limited by their mind's usual physical limitations. roll again.
(10:22:46 PM) madgirlkate: 2 this time.
(10:23:26 PM) starwar009: another bashing dmg then
(10:23:41 PM) madgirlkate: How much longer is the chapter?
(10:24:09 PM) starwar009: and with that headache Zoe will notice she's standing in front of the tent in the middle of the artifact raider camp. there only seems a few more pages of ch 6 to go.
(10:25:32 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *ow* What are your feelings on my finishing the pertinent chapter before discussing things with your Lord? How cruicial will that minute be?
(10:27:13 PM) starwar009: Gracefull Blade: I believe I can use the time to explain to mine lord your presence, so that they art more agreeable.
(10:27:38 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Excellent. *book*
(10:28:14 PM) starwar009: righto, one moment.
(10:28:43 PM) madgirlkate: kk
(10:44:54 PM) starwar009: the last bit continues on about the wyld, trying to expand her mind more. and roll again ^.^
(10:45:17 PM) madgirlkate: 4 successes
(10:47:42 PM) starwar009: ok, no dmg that time. and Zoe has finished the mind bendy bit of the book. I'd like you to make a note that Zoe will automatically gain a point of limit any time she enters the wyld for the first time in a chapter, and that she gets a +1 on all lore rolls about primordials or the wyld
(10:48:46 PM) madgirlkate: Does the limit thing start this chapter, or the next one?
(10:49:11 PM) starwar009: this chapter. upon finishing the book.
(10:49:40 PM) madgirlkate: Kewl. Does she still have the 'want to read the book' thing going?
(10:50:16 PM) starwar009: nope, the obsession is gone. She can read it just because she likes reading things now. :P
(10:52:22 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I still maintain that abruptly shifting langauges mid-book is not an optimal writing strategy. Nor, for that matter, is abruptly shifting topics. *tucks the book under her arm and looks around*
(11:07:34 PM) starwar009: right, the tent is in front of you and the artifact raiders seem to be mostly ignoring Zoe.
(11:08:17 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *opens her Echo book while she waits*
(11:08:55 PM) starwar009: remind me: what was her messages to echo:
(11:09:16 PM) madgirlkate: I think the last one was the one right after she attacked the acting Matron.
(11:14:34 PM) starwar009: righto...Echo's written back by now. He explains that the way the matron talked sounded like one of a couple of solars that had managed to find a way around dying, they usually described dying as sleeping and then their return as waking up. And the reckless manner in which she attacked seemed par for the course for someone that thinks they cannot truely die. Then the tent flap opens and Gracefull Blade steps out "Lady Prickles come this way and we may speaketh with mine lord." when she steps inside she finds herself in something much more spacious than the tent would hint, like walking into an ornate castle's entry hall, with high ceilings and crystal chandeliers. She also gains a point of limit for walking into the wyld(sorry cheap shot, but it just added up that way ^.^; )
(11:15:31 PM) madgirlkate: (iz cool- I figured she was going to get it sooner or later, if only when whatever it was that was in the city tried to poke her after it got brought back)
(11:16:04 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *is refraining from saying anything snarky*
(11:16:17 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *there isn't really anything snarky she would say, but she says snarky things a lot*
(11:22:36 PM) starwar009: heh, anyway, she's led through the expansive castle, not to a throne room but to what looks like the basement where there is a person standing over a table. They are very short and skinny, with long fingered, delicate hands and large eyes that look as though they're made out of magnifying glasses. There is a first age artifact of some sort taken apart on the table as the person looks up. They seem lacking in details that would suggest a gender, just occupation. This person is obviously a scholar and artificer of some sort. "This is the one Blade? Yes of course she is. hello miss. Blade tells me you're quite smart. That's good. it has been some time. You found that which we seek? Blade informs me you did. Good good."
(11:23:52 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: Yes, I found that which you seek. I also discovered why it was missing, and I believe that information will displease you.
(11:27:07 PM) starwar009: artificer: oh? not good. what happened? is it still itself? has it been forced to Be? solar experiments? displeased. what kind of displeased? I already feel displeased just thinking about it. best get it over with. just tell me. truth is probably worse than what I'm imagining. Too much knowledge gives one too much to imagine. all bad too.
(11:30:20 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I do not know if it was force to Be or not, as I lack information on what that entails, just as I lack information on the true nature of it. Your displeasure is likely to be threefold. First, it has been trapped in some sort of restraint and used for the purposes of the solars. Secondly, all those responsible are now dead, meaning that there is no adequate way for you to get revenge on them. Third and final, they died as a result of the aformentioned attempted restraint and purposes, so that even a retaliatory gesture made as an attempt to defer any similar courses of action in the future will also be pointless, as publicizing the results of the previous attempt would do suffice.
(11:31:21 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: My assumptions about your feelings on the matter may be inaccurate, however.
(11:37:18 PM) starwar009: Artificer: solars. pah. always trying to make all Be. Obsessed with stagnation. Hate wyld. too stupid to see symbiosis. Course, brothers stupid too. in same way but flipways. Did they succeed? No. of course not. or not all dead. so they failed. good. Will be as was meant to be. not Being. Revenge? yes that would be right. fit story. the child pays the father's debts. But no feasable. lunars. solars. a mind equal my own in city even. no. would be suicide. would abandon mission for sake of attempted revenge. must wait for other time. fetch it, then leave. return one day when city not crawling with sun and moon.
(11:40:47 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: I fail to see why revenge against the city is the only course of action which fits the story. If nothing else, discrediting the memories of those involved would at least run counter to the goals of the people at fault. Regardless, I am curious about your mention of a mind equal to your own in the city. I suppose you are too busy to talk with me?
(11:45:13 PM) starwar009: Artificer: no, not too busy to talk. talk and walk. yes?*walking already*It is not only possible story. strongest story. Story must be strong or it won't stick. maybe. But your story will do for now. There is a solar. I think. probably. 85% probability. Old solar. smart solar. Already tried once to turn artifact warriors against me. managed to change frequency. prevent attempt. But only matter of time before they try again. Surprised you did not work with them. Sun and moon all but one. yes?
(11:50:04 PM) madgirlkate: Zoe: *walks with him* A story with a clever subversion may have adequate strength based on its novelty. And I do not believe in siding with people based on what color they glow in the dark, if at all. I believe the person in question is a solar, yes, based on my own observations of an old, smart solar attempting to control the artifact warriors. I assisted her until I realized what she was attempting to do, upon which I hampered her attempts, although apparently to an insufficient degree. I suppose I should have killed her, but killing someone unconcious is a... weak story.

Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:26 am » SaffronOOC: Hey, I've been too busy writing Inspector Tao and Gilded Ice children's scrolls! In this one Gilded Ice has to deal with a grumpy inventor!
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:25 am » then again sometimes my best Shun bits are when I'm sleep deprived, easier to play "0 patience" that way
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:25 am » not exactly in character ramblings, just as a warning. Not awake enough to reliably play Shun properly.
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:24 am » aw
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:24 am » Saffron: *Isn't actually there.*
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:24 am » Bark: *Following Dusk around for the rest of the day, probably helping do chores until she/it loses interest*
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:24 am » Shun: ... is this guy for real? This reads like a Raksha's parody of a leader. Saffron! Did you write this as a prank?
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:24 am » Dusk: I don't know...I'd like to meet him, hear what he has to say in person...but if he's just empire building, forget it. We've got plenty of work here-we can't all go to the north.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:23 am » Er, could someone post the whole log? I got booted from chat for a few seconds and lost half of it
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:23 am » Oh, she will. ^^
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:23 am » that is true ^.^
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:22 am » Well, part of it does depend on if his wife tells him about the letter or not
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:22 am » *snerk*
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:22 am » also: Shun probably should not meet the Bull of the North. I don't think they'd get along
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:22 am » Phew, I haven't done that in a while
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:22 am » interesting
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:21 am » I did! Thanks!
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:21 am » In any event, that's Dusk's thing. Hope you had fun!
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:20 am » (Okay)
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:19 am » (The Sidereals don't know about the Great Curse, although they know the Solars went crazy. How much of the history your character knows is dependant at least a bit on your Lore and Intelligence stat, but after her previous adventures it's fairly safe to say Dusk knows the basics: Solars built a great empire, Dragon Blooded rebelled, killed Solars, Sidereal probably involved, Lunars driven off/went crazypants, and so on
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:18 am » Dusk: *carefully rolls up the scroll, and tucks it away inside her robes*
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:18 am » (Question-did we ever learn much about the true history? I know the sidereals knew of the great curse, ect, but not us, I think? )
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:18 am » Sincerely, The Bull of the North, Yurgen Kaneko
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:16 am » (er, imagine that was italicized)
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:16 am » [i]The world has erred, and it falls to us all to correct it's course. A new Deliberative, to bring the world back to the glory of its Golden Age.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:14 am » You will be given a place, and a resources and tasks suited to your abilities. To never fear the Wyld Hunt again, and to be given a chance to save others from such fear.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:13 am » Dusk: Hmm...*pondering*
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:12 am » If you so choose, travel north. Seek refuge here. You are welcome, so long as you are willing to work alongside others of your kind. There is much to do.\
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:10 am » Consider this a formal invitation. I am bringing together every one of the Children of the Sun that wishes to listen. The Empire fears us, and we ought give them reason to fear. They hunt us and vex us, and spread their deceptions to keep the world snapping at the heels of those that would help it.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:10 am » Dusk:(snorts, amused) *(thinking)He's formed an empire, and he disparages those seeking power?*
Sarah McLaren « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:10 am » .
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:08 am » Dusk: *wonders how Wei would do in a match against him*
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:08 am » If this letter reaches you, then you are one who has been chosen by the Gods. I have instructed my messenger to deliver this message, as well as several others, to my wayward kin. Those who have made a name for themselves. Those who have proven to be concerned with more than idle power.
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:08 am » .
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:06 am » Whatever else you take from this letter, know this: I've heard of your work. I approve.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:05 am » The letter continues.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:04 am » Since then, he's waged several military campaigns against neighboring tribes and city-states in the north, and by alliance and conquest has managed to create a small empire that borders the Scavenger Lands, in places.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:04 am » Dusk: *murmurs* well, well, well...
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:03 am » Well then. Ok, Dusk knows the name of Yurgen Kaneko very well. Also known as "The Rock Which the Scarlet Empire Crashes Against In Vain" or more simply as "The Bull of the North", or even just "The Old Fart" to his detractors. A Barbarian from the tribes to the far, frozen north, in what barely counts as a country. Several years ago he became one of the most infamous Anathema on the continent when he led an army of barbarians against the better equipped legions of House Tepet, of the Blessed Isle... and crushed them, despite overwhelming numbers and inferior weaponry. It was one of the most historic routes of the last 100 years, according to any historian who isn't on the Isle.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:01 am » Now. As for the name...
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:00 am » It's not hard to figure out. It's a highly stylized version of a noon-day sun, the symbol of the Dawn Caste solar.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:00 am » I'll start with the Sunburst.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:59 am » 10,9,3,6,3 (3 successes)
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:58 am » Okay, lore/int.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:58 am » 10,9,10,6,4, 3,4 (5 successes) wits investigate
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:57 am » Er, to identify the sunburst it'd be Lore + Intelligence. Sorry
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:57 am » wits investigate
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:57 am » I'll just make a DM's call it'd be Wits Plus Investigate, or Wits Plus Lore, but with a higher difficulty
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:57 am » Okay, lore+?
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:57 am » You can make a Lore check to identify the sunburst sigil. As for if she's heard of the person...that would prooooobably be a wits plus investigation check. I think Investigation would be for current events... maybe Lore, except it's less old history and more recent history
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:56 am » (I have a bad feeling about this...)
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:55 am » Does the sunbust sigel mean anything to dusk, aside from Solar? And has she ever heard of this person?
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:54 am » To the woman known as the Witch of the Scavenger Lands,
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:54 am » Ok. The scroll is from someone named Yurgen Kaneko. It's somewhat odd that the Wax in the scroll has the feel of essence to it as Dusk breaks it, and is shaped in the style of a sunburst
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:53 am » Dusk: *returns the bow*
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:53 am » THIS Dew hands the scroll to Bark and then bows, and then Bark holds the scroll, which is easily twice her/it's size up for Dusk, wobbling and trying to hold it until Dusk takes it. And then bows
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:52 am » Dusk: *gently takes the scroll* Thank you!Thank you all so much! *opens scroll*
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:52 am » (Okay, leedle forest spirits are adorable)
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:52 am » Eventually, Bark scampers back with another of her/it's kind that has a leave with a small waterstain on it, dragging a scroll of parchment that's definately seen better days. It looks like someone dragged it across the dirt for a while and then through a thorn bush or three. Yet surprisingly enough, there's an unbroken seal on it, of golden wax
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:50 am » (hee)
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:50 am » It's mostly the same thing: Asking which one was Dew, and arguing when about twelve of them say their name is Dew, and then the ones who all are named Dew call themselves family and hug each other, and then get into a fight over which Dew is the Dew that saw the Lawgiver, and then after that fight all of them realize that it's the Dew whose job is to make sure the squirrels don't find all their acorns, and then each of the twelve Dews ran off to help Bark find that Dew. Lather, rinse, and repeat this for about twelve minutes of tomfoolery
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:48 am » Dusk listens closely-she does have Old Realm as a language.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:48 am » Bark runs into a patch of them, literally crashing into them, and they start talking in Old Realm. It's a bit of a mess, all of them talking at once, with no one quite understanding the other.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:47 am » Ok. At first it only seems like there's a few of them. All tiny little creatures like Bark, except then, Dusk adjusts her eyes, and she can see HUNDREDS of them. All in the trees, hanging on vines, poking out from various bushes and grasses... all with various flower or leaves on there heads. It was a wonder she didn't notice them before.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:47 am » DuskOOC: Why did Shun have to go to town NOW?
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:46 am » 9,10,2,2,5, 9,2 (4 successes)
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:45 am » Then, it takes off running into the tall grass. Dusk, make a Perception + Awareness check
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:45 am » It nods, enthusiastically. Which sounds like someone taking a sledgehammer to a table. Except a bit less loud.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:44 am » "The Lawgiver did that thing, where it said the Words, and then we had to Listen, and it asked Dew to ask all of us if there was another Lawgiver in the forest, and even though the people from the city say we're not supposed to tell the Lawgivers about themselves, Dew couldn't not do it! And I owed Dew, so I and the others helped!"
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:44 am » Dusk: Well, we've found each other now! *smiles* Bark, you've been so helpful-can you get Dew and the Letter for me?
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:43 am » It jumps. "Oh! Yeah! Yeah! Um, it was a letter! For you! The Lawgiver asked some of us to find you! I forgot!"
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:42 am » Dusk: So, a few days. I think I'd like to find this lawgiver. And, the Letter?
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:41 am » It nods. "Yeah! It was one of those... um. And then another. And then another. And then I think another. Dew would know. Dew's the one with the Letter."
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:40 am » Dusk: A day?
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:39 am » It shifts. "Um... Um... what is it called, when the Sun rises and then falls again?"
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:38 am » Dusk: How long ago was it?
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:38 am » Dusk: Yes, you were telling me about the last lawgiver you met. Can you tell me about them? I'd really appreciate it.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:37 am » It smiles and looks relieved. "There's always been someone on the Rowan Throne! Even since before the Contigation. If Deciduae dies then another Lord of the Wood will appear to take his place. That might happen soon, anyway." It frowns, as if straining its mind to think about something. "Um, weren't you asking about another Lawgiver?"
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:34 am » ShunOOC: ah forest gods... notoriously egotistical.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:32 am » Dusk: It's okay, mum's the word.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:32 am » It blinks and then puts its hands over it's mouth. "Eep! I'm not supposed to say he thinks he's bigger than he is! I mean, um, er..."
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:30 am » Dusk: ...doesn't want them to think he smells like roses? *puzzled*
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:30 am » "Yup. Boss of the whole forest, and it's his job to make sure we do our jobs. He's not very nice unless the people from the Heavenly City are doing an audit."
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:29 am » It thinks. "Well, as long as the people from up top aren't around. He's in charge, but he doesn't want them to think he thinks he smells like roses.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:29 am » Dusk: Well, that doesn't sound very nice. Has he always been your lord?
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:28 am » Bark nods, which sounds like wood breaking. Again. "You haven't heard? The Lord of the Rowan Throne is Deciduae! He's the biggest, toughest, meanest elemental in the forest, and he bosses us all around!"
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:28 am » Dusk: ...Wait, the last Lawgiver? Bark, was this recently? You see, I look for new lawgivers to help them, if I can.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:26 am » Dusk: It's been a pleasure, Bark. But, I'm curious. You see, I haven't heard of the Lord of the Rowan Throne. Could you tell me about him? And yes, Bark is a pretty name!
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:26 am » "The last Lawgiver who came into the forest said it was a very pretty name for a girl." The little spirit seems to beam about this
Jane Narbon « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:26 am » (hiagain)
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:25 am » It smiles. "Oh, Thank you! Thank you!" It hops up, lips touching each flower, which pops open in resplendent beauty, and then bows to her. "Thank you, Miss Lawgiver! My name is Bark."
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:25 am » .
Sarah McLaren « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:25 am » (bbl)
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:24 am » Dusk: By the way...what should I call you?
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:23 am » Dusk: I'm sure. To me, they look really blue. *glances quickly at Dawn, then back at the little...spirit*
Sarah McLaren « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:22 am » .
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:21 am » It tilts it's head, with a small cracking sound, like fractured wood. "Oh! Are you sure? Um, I really don't want to get in trouble with the Lord of the Rowan Throne if I'm wrong..."
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:20 am » Dusk: They look blue to me!
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:20 am » They're pretty blue.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:19 am » Dusk: Let me take a look. *bends down, looks carefully*
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:18 am » What color do thwe flowers look to Dusk?
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:17 am » It turns it's head up to her. "Well." It points at the two unblossomed flowers. "Everyone around here knows it's my job to kiss the flowers so they pop open, but I'm only supposed to kiss the BLUE ones. And Glinkle said this isn't BLUE, it's a really blue PURPLE. And if I kiss a purple flower, I'll get in a lot of trouble with the man on the Rowan Throne. But I can't tell what color it is! Is it blue, or purple?" The little creature clutches it's head, looking at the two flowers as if it expects them to give it an answer, looking frantically back and forth faster and faster until it seems almost likely it's head will come off.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:15 am » Dusk: Why don't you tell me what the problem is, and we'll see if it's something I can help you with?
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:13 am » Dusk:*looks down, blinks* I don't know. What's the matter?
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:12 am » It's standing next to two unblossomed flowers. "Er, you're a smart Lawgiver-type person. Could you help me?"
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:12 am » (Daisy Head Mazie! Sorry, couldn't resist)
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:12 am » Standing next to a small patch of tall grass, almost blending in with it, is a thin, slender little person about as tall as Dusk's ankle. Its skin is a bright green and it has small grasshopper wings coming forth from its back. In all other senses it seems to be nothing else than a genderless, tiny person. Save for one: Where there would be eyes, there are the knots of a tree. Where there should be hair, there is the small bud of a daisy.
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:11 am » .
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:11 am » Who or what is saying this?
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:10 am » "Um, Pardon me, miss Witch of the Scavenger Lands..."
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:09 am » Oh?
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:09 am » combo two, if needed, is Enemy Castigating Solar Judgement, 1st excellency thrown, and durability of oak-she's not casting it yet-not without knowing what's there, just readying herself.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:09 am » Ok. It's not enough, but in truth, it doesn't matter tremendously much in this case. Because the watcher in question soon makes their presence known.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:07 am » accidentaly rolled twice, here's teh original roll.4,5,4,6,1, 9,7 (2 successes)
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:06 am » Ok
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:06 am » Mentally, she'll ready combo #2, and let me pull up the dice roller.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:05 am » Ok, make a Wits + Awareness roll, then.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:05 am » I don't have any supernatural tricks for detection. so casual gaze.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:04 am » Dawn? This is near the end of the ten year period, so... let's say about 4 or 5....
Demothesis « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:04 am » .
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:04 am » Ok. Is she using any supernatural tricks? or is it just a casual gaze?
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:04 am » How old is Dawn? Baby, toddler, child, preteen?
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:04 am » Dusk looks around, casually-I have a decent perception-and prepares herself to either cast a spell or a weapon. She's near enough to Dawn to keep an eye on her, and far enough that she could theoretically attack without endangering Dawn.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 4:00 am » hang on, looking at my sheet...
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:59 am » So. What do you do?
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:58 am » Someone, or something, unnoticible to the mortal eye, is spying on her, although she can't quite get a bead on it
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:57 am » It is noon in a forest near a town where Dusk finds herself, outside her family's camp, Dawn asleep and Desus out with his daddy in a nearby town... There's a quiet, almost tranquil feeling in the air as Dusk suddenly feels like she's being watched.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:56 am » DusK: And teh first person to dump a bucket of mop water over me gets a war boomerang up the nose.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:55 am » Yep!
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:55 am » Dusk. Just as a recap, what was decided between your player and the DM is that during the ten year gap you and Shun went off into the Scavenger Lands and tried to rescue solars from the Hunt, traveling from place to place, ducking the Hunt and leading new solars to the Gold Faction's training camps whenever you can in addition to managing your daughter and a growing baby jade dragon. Through all of this you had gained a reputation as "The Witch of the Scavenger Lands". Is that accurate?
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:53 am » Dusk:*yawns* I feel like I've been asleep for months...
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:52 am » So, what are we doing?
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:52 am » Sure, why n ot?
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:52 am » but in deference to Dr. Beard needing sleep sooner or later, I'm gonna say we should start now, as long as Chic's ok with it
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:51 am » Ok. So Tinker's not showing and Jane's off having dinner
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:50 am » Hi, Geneve.
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:49 am » :)
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:49 am » yay for scribbles!!! *puckers up*
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:49 am » Thank you! I'm so happy I ahve that back now!
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:49 am » Hahahahahaha! Chic, if it wouldn't get your husband angry I could kiss you!
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:49 am » THAT'S it! I totally lost those notes!
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:48 am » Hey, Z? My notes from the end of your game say, add 3 background dots, gain 6 dots to spend on skills, alilities, or specialiteis, and add three new charms. And other scribbled notes that say, 4SSXP=1 bonus point, can buy up to 6 bonus points for the new character? Does that sound right?
Sarah McLaren « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:46 am » Hi Geneve!
Dr. Geneve Beard « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:46 am » I should probably be asleep, but I'm too wound up. So hi.
Professor Zobot « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:45 am » It's ok if you haven't. This won't involve fighting in most senses, so there's not a ton of risk
chicgeek « Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:44 am » hiya, Demo.

Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:19 pm » and that's where we'll end Zoe's bit for tonight ^.^
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:18 pm » Zoe: Of course. *run!*
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:18 pm » Artificer: ah. excellent. foreward planning. now we run again yes?
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:17 pm » Zoe: Of course. I am attempting to prepare for the possibility of you leaving while the warriors remain.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:15 pm » Artificer: Which would work. if not for artifact's penchant for burrowing into holders' flesh and making new warriors. Blade is finishing up. We run. Simple. We devize method of avoiding warriors' detection after. yes?
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:14 pm » .
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:13 pm » Zoe: I note that Graceful Blade is currently exposing portions of machinery to the air, or to anyone who would like to remove part and put it in their pocket.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:13 pm » Sorry, chat got stuck.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:12 pm » .
Professor Zobot « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:09 pm » Hmmm...
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:06 pm » Artificer: the artifact has a signal. used to control and link them. they know each other. they see us and do not sense that same signal therefore they attack.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:03 pm » Zoe: Given that I do not know the manner of detection, I would suggest that there may be a way to use this information to prevent them from attacking us.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:02 pm » Artificer: that is a likely possibility. the warriors are meant to be a way to replenish one's army mid battle. reanimates the troops to fight again. minimum artifact material use, maximum use. They are created for war.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:01 pm » Gracefull blade seems to be handling the ones in front fine. one of them is already down and the second is well on it's way, but there are more approaching from behind you all.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:00 pm » Zoe: Is that an example, or a likely possibility given the construction of the control structure?
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:59 pm » Zoe doesn't have her claws... she's waiting to see if Graceful Blade is going to be in trouble or not.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:59 pm » will zoe be trying to attack as well or....?
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:59 pm » .
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:57 pm » Artificer: Passive. likely a simple order. kill, evict all non artifact bearing individuals.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:55 pm » Zoe: Is there current attack pattern an active or passive control factor?
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:53 pm » as you all run, with the edge of the camp within sight, the raiders stop shudering and turn towards you in unison, three stepping into the way between you all and the open feilds. Gracefull blade charges them with sword in hand, obviously intending on cutting them down.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:52 pm » Artificer: Ah. Had not considered that factor.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:51 pm » Zoe: The statement of us easily making it. Aside from my poor pacing, it neglects the factor of increased time it would have taken us to start running without warning.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:49 pm » Artificer: which statement? *confused head tilt*
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:49 pm » .
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:46 pm » Zoe: *running after him* I am underwhelmed by the ability of the city to retain prisoners. And I am skeptical about the vailidity of your previous statement.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:46 pm » Artificer: apologies. You two. much faster than me. Would make it easily.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:46 pm » Gracefull Blade: of course m'lord. *draws blade, eyes glancing around as you all run*
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:43 pm » Artificer: yes. you may. accepted. *runs that way.* Gracefull Blade. I calculate we'll need your sword soon. We will have at least fifteen yards left when artifacts reallign.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:41 pm » Zoe: Might I recommend that direction for fleeing? *points*
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:40 pm » alright, Zoe sees a path through the camp that seems more downhill than most and the surrounding lay of the land would hamper the rest of the artifact raiders in their attempts to follow when they are done realligning.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:38 pm » (wits+survival)
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:38 pm » 5 successes again
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:36 pm » .
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:36 pm » anyone who reads tv tropes would know enough to get themselve in serious trouble. not no trouble :P and right... oops ^.^; that would be wits + war or wits + survival))
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:35 pm » ...while, that's useful, I meant 'help with finding a path out of camp'. Sorry. *not good with pronouns*
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:35 pm » (So basically, anyone who reads TVTropes can handle them w/o trouble.)
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:35 pm » ok, Zoe thinking on Raksha recalls writing about them and how they work being essentially, cliches and archytypes come to life. They are illogical to most mortal minds since they do not follow the logic of a living thing, but that of a character ridgidly played out on the stage of the world. If one declared itself a hero of the downtrodden it could not go against that, even if it meant death. It means that they have an internal logic that a story teller of sufficient skill could recognize and exploit, but to the layman, they simply seem to do things at random. The issue comes, most often, for greater minds, that the most powerfull mix archytypes and can be exceedingly unpredictable as such.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:30 pm » (5 successes)
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:30 pm » (int + lore or occult)
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:29 pm » (what's the roll?)
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:29 pm » Zoe: I believe demanding an unspecified object repeatedly encompasses only half of that characteristic. Regardless, a notification if my level of understanding is thus poor ettiquette would be appreciated.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:27 pm » you can if you like ^.^
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:27 pm » Gracefull Blade: m'lady, what m'lord, Shining Mind wishes you to understand is that. We art as dependant on our chosen traits as though art upon air. One of Shining Mind's traits is that of the misunderstood genius. Shining Mind exists by this very trait. To go against it, twould be to choke off existant to m'lord.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:26 pm » (can I roll to try and help with that?)
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:22 pm » Artificer: Gracefull Blade. explain raksha to prickly woman. focusing on deciding safest route through camp.
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:22 pm » .
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:20 pm » Zoe: Also a more robust negotiating strategy than asking people who don't know what you are talking about for something they do not technically have.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:20 pm » Zoe: I would suggest that, even should you choose to leave before dealing with the solar, a more robust control system may be wise for future endevours.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:18 pm » Artificer: I concur. and not presently. We'll flee to wyld fragment, reclaim it, and if solar facility. it should be simple to find proper parts. to build new device. Solar may have consolodated control too much by then though. Don't care. Accomplishing goal. Leave with fragment. let solar chase ghosts.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:16 pm » Zoe: Do you have a safe location with the facilities to rebuild the control structure?!
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:15 pm » Zoe: ...this is less than ideal. *runs after him, wincing as her foot pounds against the ground*
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:15 pm » ,
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:14 pm » Artificer: Very interesting. *looks around casually* Run. Yes. We should run now. *begins running as all the artifact raiders start shuddering* I underestimated. Stupid. Took the solar less time than I thought. by at least one hour. Should take them less than minute to reset under new control.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:12 pm » Zoe: Unfortunately, I was not able to thoroughly examine the facility in question, owing to my own weakesses to attacking wyld fragments. I did note a room with mummified corpses that may have been the control room for still partially-functioning restraints, but that is supposition on my part.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:10 pm » Artificer: fascinating! melting solar fascility. not usually easy. overpowered too, weak story. how did it balance it. something must have held it back. or fascility would have dissapeared eons ago. rampage on surface of creation. easier to find.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:10 pm » Zoe: Incidentally, this was related to a chain of events involving the ability of the aformentioned solar to attempt to override your control of the mechanical soldiers.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:09 pm » Zoe: I also believe a small portion of it may have affected this book, which, while causing a fascinating effect, is somewhat detrimental to read. *holds up the book*
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:08 pm » Zoe: I believe it is in the process of destroying the facility it was placed in. I noted melting metal, a grinding noise, and a prevading darkness that advanced during my time there and caused damage to me when I came into contact with it.
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:06 pm » .
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:06 pm » When they reach the door and open it, they emerge back into the middle of the war camp, the oppulence forgetten behind them replaced by the stench of horses and clamor of soldiers maintaining a camp, though missing the conversation, making all the other sounds ring somewhat hollow. The Artificer turns to Zoe "So, the wyld fragment. How is it expressing itself? I would guess it hads taken offensive forms. if project failed. not because of solar incompetance. no never that. too clever to be incompetant. just overambitious. underestimate wyld. wyld strike at best time."
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:00 pm » Zoe: *following*
Professor Zobot « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:59 pm » Heeheehee
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:58 pm » when we last left Zoe in chat, she was taken by raksha after she negotiated a possible peacefull solution to the raksha's invasion. Currently she's within the Raksha's tent, in the depths of a very large mansion contained within the moderate tent, wyld and all that. As she, Gracefull blade and the raksha artificer assend out of the mansion's basement, the building goes from a more utilitarian laboritory setting to a more opulent mansion setting, tall greek coloumns, stuffed exotic animals, large paintings and all the usual things expected in a mansion overzealous in it's seeking of opulence, though neither Gracefull Blade nor the artificer seem to notice or care, heading for the doors by the quickest route
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:56 pm » ...can you remind me where we were? It's been a few weeks.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:51 pm » we'll be starting with Zoe and then move to Kyra's bit
Professor Zobot « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:51 pm » o
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:51 pm » .
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:47 pm » just a heads up, I'm taking it easy tonight, due to a long story involving work and blurg. so just doing Zoe and Kyra's short bits tonight.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:46 pm » heyas jane.
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:46 pm » Hey
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:45 pm » Hi!
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:42 pm » Heh... tis fine
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:42 pm » .
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:42 pm » ok, heyas all. I'm doing alright. got roped into making dinner at the last moment.
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:30 pm » Fairly decent
Professor Zobot « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:24 pm » I'm doing alright. You?
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:22 pm » How be thee?
Professor Zobot « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:19 pm » Hey
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:09 pm » *pokes head in*
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:07 pm » kk
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:06 pm » .
Claire « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:04 pm » .
Professor Zobot « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:03 pm » Oh, Chic said she'd be a bit later
Professor Zobot « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:03 pm » Zzzzzzz
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:01 pm » *sets up dm screen* brb, making dinner apparently.

Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:33 pm » heh, I see. hope everyone enjoyed tonight's game.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:32 pm » That was... interesting. You can bet Kyra'll be spreading the word like crazy when she gets better...
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:32 pm » .
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:32 pm » Kyra: [goes back to sleep]
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:32 pm » and that's kyra's bit. 4ssxp ^.^
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:31 pm » Kyra: . . . huh.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:30 pm » Roads: no you won't~ *smiles and hopes out the window*
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:30 pm » Kyra: ...see you... Roads.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:29 pm » Roads: of course it is~ That is what the trrapped do~
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:28 pm » Kyra: It said it was trying to become free...
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:28 pm » Roads: I see~ Well thank you for your time~ I will be watching~ *walks to window*
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:27 pm » Kyra: It said yes.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:27 pm » Kyra: I asked it if it was involved in the trouble in Denandsor.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:25 pm »
Quote:
the central building seems to become transparent and she can watch the people inside work on something, at first they seem confident and calm, but as the time passes wuickly, as dreams are wont to do, they grow more urgent, working with a panicked furvor, a full ten of them eventually revealed to be solars, their animas glowing brightly as they worked with frantic speed and skill. But in the end it's all for naught, something happens and a shadow is loosed in part of the facility and it begins eating people, moving faster and faster, with more and more rage in it's motions until even the solars are consumed, their energy already wasted before it's appearance. then the shadow turns on the dome, triking at it and lashing out with fury and might, crashing into the dome, trying to push through, but it's too thick and eventually the shadow slows, drifing down to lay exhausted, as exhausted as a shadow can appear, upon the faciliy along the dome's wall.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:25 pm » Kyra: I saw... this.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:25 pm » (yes it is Zo :D)
chicgeek « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:25 pm » .
Professor Zobot « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:24 pm » (I just got back here.... also wait, is that ROADS?)
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:24 pm » Kyra: Well.... [remembering]
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:22 pm » Roads: I see~ Did it say anything of importance besides name itself~?
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:21 pm » Kyra: [shrugs] This dream was important. It was... I spoke with something. Something big. It called itself... a Primordial.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:19 pm » Roads: ah thank you~ So many lunars get guarded at the merest idea of taking to a sidereal~
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:19 pm » [b]Kyra:{/b] Ah. Very nice to meet you. Yes, I think I can tell you.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:18 pm » Roads: I am a sidereal~ One trained in arts relating to dreams and their relations~
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:18 pm » .
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:17 pm » (She's been saying 'what are you' a lot today.)
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:16 pm » Kyra: Ah. Now, what are you, that can read dreams?
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:16 pm » *portent
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:16 pm » man: my name is Roads Without Endings~ I am something of an interested party when it comes to strange dreams of protent~
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:15 pm » Kyra: Please. [getting up]
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:14 pm » man: no~ Should I introduce myself~?
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:14 pm » (If I'm calculating her anima banner, Kyra is full dark.)
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:13 pm » Kyra: . . . do I know you?
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:13 pm » ok, she wakes up without being panicked, though she's probably still a little affected by the dream. and the moment she wakes up, she sees Whisper sleeping in her chair and a man standing in the center of the room. He smiles and bows lightly to her. "Hello ma'am. Could you tell me about the dream you just had~? I couldn't watch it, and that's rare enough to pique my interest~" He was a tall man with sandy blond hair and an easy, and slightly condesending smile.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:11 pm » 2,10 (2 successes)
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:09 pm » make a valor roll please
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:09 pm » and with that Kyra wakes up.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:09 pm » Shadow:Simple.*opens mouth very very wide and lunges over Kyra, surrounding her in darkness* Wake up.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:08 pm » Kyra: And second... how do I wake up? [feeling very small]
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:07 pm » Shadow: yes.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:07 pm » Kyra: First... are you involved in the happenings around Denandsor right now?
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:06 pm » Shadow: ask then. and leave if you can. Take care not to bring me with you little Lunar.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:06 pm » Kyra: I do have two things to ask of you, then. Then I'll get out of here if I can.
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:05 pm » .
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:04 pm » Shadow: That is the most dangerous question you could ask. *grins wider and wider until the edges of it's mouth are pushing out past where it's face is and curling in on themselves in an ever tighter spiral, the face pushing close to Kyra's face* I am what you would call a Primordial. But before primordials were primordials. I am older than they. I am stronger than they. I am *more* than they. And one day i will be free of this prison. I know this because it will happen. because it has happened. because it is happening right now.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:59 pm » Kyra: Um... what are you?
chicgeek « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:57 pm » .
Professor Zobot « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:57 pm » (Oooo))
Wallycaine « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:54 pm » .
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:52 pm » Shadow: be careful what you demand of me though, or you shall share the fate of those arrogant souls before you.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:52 pm » Shadow: yes. You have simply stumbled upon it. As your kind seems to always do. *disgust fills it's voice for a moment before it continues* Now what do you want? Your kind never find me without wanting something of me.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:48 pm » Kyra: I am Kyra. [a bit confused] You... say this is your dream?
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:48 pm » *Kyra
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:46 pm » The shadow responds slowly, shifting, a part forming a face of sorts, looking down on Lyra haughtily. "It has been long since one last shared my dreaming. And since you are the uninvited guest it is proper to introduce yourself first."
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:42 pm » Kyra: ...who are you?
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:40 pm » what will she say?
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:40 pm » Kyra will approach and try to talk to the shadow, though it's probably a bad idea.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:38 pm » the central building seems to become transparent and she can watch the people inside work on something, at first they seem confident and calm, but as the time passes wuickly, as dreams are wont to do, they grow more urgent, working with a panicked furvor, a full ten of them eventually revealed to be solars, their animas glowing brightly as they worked with frantic speed and skill. Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:36 pm » She'll walk towards the centre.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:35 pm » Kyra: .... where is this place?
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:35 pm » Hi!
chicgeek « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:34 pm » (Okay, I see it's Zoe and Kyra tonight-fair enough, they didn't get in last week. Hi.)
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:32 pm » yep. now, for her bit. As she sleeps kyra dreams. In the dream she finds herself in a huge domed structure, with a building along the wall of the far edge of the dome and another at the center of the structure on the ground. Everything is lit brightly by an artificial sun at the apex of the dome and she sees people traveling between the central facility and the one along the wall.
chicgeek « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:31 pm » At long last, I'm here, and not on MJ's computer, either. But I've lost my bookmarks. Can someone shoot me the dice roller link, and give me a synopsis? Sorry I'm so late, it was unavoidable.
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:28 pm » So... that's... 24 motes recovery?
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:28 pm » Yeah.
Demothesis « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:28 pm » yes, about 3 hours, and she went to sleep correct?
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:27 pm » Has any time passed since then?
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:27 pm » Last I looked, Kyra was drained, tired, and at -1. (I think)
Jane Narbon « Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:26 pm » OK.
