Not a great movie, but certain Narbonic themes seem to be present - lack of common sense among mad scientists, and the parent issues seem to be familiar somehow. I kind of expected Gru's mom to go 'heh, heh, heh'.... (Much more evil than he is, and quite a bit more competent.) And yes, there are funding difficulties for evil schemes - the hero, err, umm, main character has to go to an Evil Bank for money, with a joke that the bank was formerly Lehman Brothers..

I hope that Gru remains a supervillain, but that the events of the movie channel him into more of a Pink Heart Evil style.

Heh, yeah, I am pretty certain that the Grinch would consider Gru's Heel - Face turn a trifle abrupt...

Both villains had parent troubles, but I am fairly certain that the little girls will develop into proper villains with nothing but love and admiration for their mentor.... (Explain again the 'Fluffy Unicorn Death Ray Effect' again, please?)
