I don't know why there hasn't been a thread for this up yet, but I'm making it now.

Post your Skin Horse fanart here. Let's try to break the forum with enough of it!

As the primary instigator, I feel it is my duty to show y'all what I got. Because apparently when I get bored at work my default is to draw Skin Horse fanart. -shrug-

Image
Didn't have any references at the moment. So her blonde half is still like an afro.

Image
I don't know how a man in a dress is so damn sexy. But... he's so damn sexy.

...that's all I got for now. At least until my scanner gets fixed. MUAHAAHAA!

...Hans, you are awesome!

Seriously, those pictures show a considerable range. I'm impressed!

The one of Unity was done in like... ten minutes before work. >>'

I spent more time on the one of Tip just because... well... I wasn't in the breakroom. And people at Walmart are generally more put-off by a man in a dress (and rocking it) than they are a multi-racial zombie. Go figure. =/

*u*

(in Hans-emote language, this means a "yes," in all-caps with a generous amount of punctuation... normally exclamation point, and the occasional numeral.)

Hmm... we need more fan art in this thread.

I shall have to start publicising it in the Skin Horse Comments section!

Well, there's been threads in the past, they might have expired. Mine is still kickin', a ways down the page.

I made more. =DD

Imagine this conversation in the breakroom of a Walmart:

"What are you drawing?"
"A... cannibal." (I was drawing one of my characters. >>)
"...and this?"
Image
"A composite zombie with two left arms riding on the back of a talking dog."
"I see... And this?"
Image
"A sentient swarm of bees."

"... have you sought... therapy? For your condition, I mean."

AND WHILE I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION!

I should mention that I also have a webcomic of my own. >>
SHAMELESS PLUG FOR THE BEND!

You may now return to your regularly scheduled poppycock.

Hello, all and sundry, and here's my attempt. Pencil and lined paper, took me about two bloody hours of photo manipulation.

Image
CAPTION: 1st Lt. Dennis "Tip" Wilkin earns the Bronze Star and promotion to Captain for his rescue of three wounded soldiers from his burning HMMWV. Wilkin is a liaison from PSYOPS Command, attached to Divisional HQ Company, 10th Mountain Division.

I figured that a psychologist would probably be part of PSYOPS in Afghanistan, and I figured that he'd be in the Army about two years before his involvement with Skin Horse began (which was when 10th Mountain was in Afghanistan, unless I seriously screwed up my research). It would also give me an excuse to put him in mess dress, since Army BDUs/ACUs are unisex and he wouldn't be out patrolling in a skirt and heels - he said early on in the comic that he wasn't a field agent - although he'd still have to pull some strings to be allowed in Mess Uniform while doing paperwork.

Which means that for a desk jockey not normally subject to ambushes, he's pretty badass.

This should be merged with my last post, but the forums are calling me names and not letting me edit. Pray that they let me post a reply, at least.

Image

Cleaned-up the image somewhat, got rid of the silly lighting effects. Also, correction: Tip's in Army Service Uniform, not mess dress. I know, I'm a geek.

This is awesome! In my personal concept of things, Tip started dressing in drag in public and displaying his current... outgoing personality immediately after the event the earned him the Bronze Star. It was kind of a turning point for him. We probably won't get a chance to go into any detail about it in the strip itself, though, so people are free to imagine whatever they want about Tip's mysterious stint in the Army.

I totally love drawing Tip in a WAAC uniform.

And more fanart, this one a crossover. No idea how long I'll keep it up, though. I really should start inking these to get rid of the rough pencil-sketches, but I left my ink pens at home, and the last time I touched them was three or four years ago.

Image

I've always wondered what would happen if Mell ever met up with Unity. Given their propensity for BFGs in general, the results would probably not be pretty.
(Don't ask me where they could've gotten one of the extremely rare Polish wz. 35 rifles. I like its nice, sporty appearance, like something you'd use to go hunting Godzilla with, unlike the graceless, boxy design of more modern BFGs.)

So, if they give unity two RIGHT feet, would that make her an excellent dancer?

A while back, someone asked if Unities 'contrasts' continued in the places not generally shown.
Through the bizarre twists and turns of my somewhat dysfunctional brain, the question led me to creating my own Unity, using DAZ3D.
DAZ3D is an absolutely free program available online. They make their money by selling models to use in the program, but there are plenty of free models out there.
The second toughest part of creating Unity3D was figuring out where all the different patches were, dark vs. light. I think I came close.
The toughest part was here freaking hair! Usually, I can use a standard hair model, but this one was a challenge.

all characters copyright: SHAENON K. GARRITY & JEFFREY C. WELLS
all models copyright their various creators, used with permission.
seriously people, this is an easy program to use, and if you want to create, say, your very own mad scientists lair, there are plenty of free models out waiting to be abused.

Hey, it worked!
I've been trying to post just links to save bandwidth, but I keep getting called a spammer.
Lets try posting the rest of these pictures.
Unity and Sweetheart in the packs lab.
There's lots of neat mad scientist stuff out there.

I've got bunches of pictures, but until I can post links instead of pictures, I think I'll stop here for the moment.
I don't want to overload the system.
Any Poser/DAZ users interested in the Unity skin? I can post that too.

Feel free to use them.
Once you have the skin, DAZ3D makes generating poses/scenes easy.
Now that I think of it, maybe I should dig out the skin I made and post it so other users can play with it.

postscript: no, 'skin' is not a comment on UNITYs condition. That's the term for picture that DAZ pastes on the body for fine detailing and different colors.

So, not sure if this should go in Skin horse or narbonic thread, but this is a pic of Unity with Jungle mell
Notes on this:
the red splotches behind unity are a trail of bloody footprint
the splotches to the right of unity are me testing colors
I didn't get Mell quite right because i didn't have a reference, and i also only realized later that i had mixed up the sides of unity's face, its actually her left half thats black.
i drew mell asian for some reason. ive always thought of her as asian, though im not quite sure why.
Origionally unity had no shirt (like rambo!) but just before i inked it i decided to give her one. though, i think that it might be a bit generous to call that pathetic scrap of red cloth a shirt...
Also, i had a hard time figuring out how mells loincloth would act when she was upside down. This picture would be very different if i hadn't added unity's "shirt" and Mell's gravity defying loincloth
im really happy with the way mell's legs turned out, for some reason

Okay, wasn't sure where to put these, but here's where they landed.
I think I've got the only Skin-Horse tee shirts in Iraq!
The lettering is a little funky, this was the first one I did. Making lines of closely spaced dots works better than dragging a pen tip across fabric.
