Okay, I'd been saving these a while now. Time to do something with them. The envelopes weren't in that great a shape just from going through the mail, and the longer I kept them, the more likely it was they'd get messed up. So I glued them to thin cardboard, carefully cut them out and tinted the outside space with watercolor, painted a canvas until I got a background color I liked, glued on the gerbils and silverfish-and a 'mad science' logo I'd saved from somewhere, used some acrylic sealer. Wheee, Shaenon Garrity art on my wall!

Do you think I had the 1st idea what a squidhole was when I invented it? Certainly not! I was just messing about! That's when the very best & very Maddest Science gets done. I thought,Why, this alabaster octopus looks like it wants a nice transmission inside it,& fairly soon I had a thing that obviously had a Use, though what that Use could be was a total mystery.
(Sameness Engine) I haven't the 1st notion of what it's for! That's not why I made it-I made it for the sheer joy of making something new! It's getting up to tell me what it wants me to do, though, I can just feel it. It's been giggling a lot at night.

Nice, chicgeek!

I went for a more prosaic framing, myself. The first thing I ever bought from the Shaenonverse was Skin Horse Volume 1, during a promo when Shaenon was sending original SH strips with every copy. I cut out the Silverfish Captain from the envelope and took that and the strip to my local frame shop, where I had the framer matte them both together in a black-and-silver frame.

I'm kind of tempted to get an original Narbonic strip, complete with envelope gerbil of course, so I can pair it with this one. You know, like someday if I have money for things like that again.

Oh, very cool indeed! Classy. They did a good job on it.
Okay, who else out there has done something with envelope doodles or original strips, ect? I'd love to see.
