Once upon a time, SiB started a Character Dossier. And it was good.

But the Character Dossier hasn't been updated lately, and a lot of the information it DOES have is out-of-date now.

So I'm starting a Characters Page.

Unlike The Mad Scientist Dossiers, the information here is meant to be spoilerish. (Spoiler warning!) Instead of just presenting backstory information about characters, this page describes how the characters have grown and developed as a result of the game itself. Ideally, people who put up descriptions of their characters here will come back and revise them after a while to reflect new changes in the characters.

The goal is so that new people who join the game, (Such as Hawk, Herr, or Dr. Beard) can find out info about the rest of the cast without having to slog through the whole archives and wasting untold hours just reading an internet forum. So that they can understand what's going on and participate more easily.

Again, Spoiler Warning! Anything you read after this point will contain details about stuff that happened in the game!

Ok! So without further ado...

David Toboz is my main character, and the middle child of three in the Toboz Family. David started out as a young boy who was in love with heroes and heroic fantasy as a child, and wanted to grow up to save people and help the world. Growing up in a family run by a Mad woman wasn't easy, especially when she vanished for long periods of time, was negligent, and didn't really seem maternal at all. But despite all of that, David was young and had a dream, and managed to stay cheerful, kindly, and happy.

Then his little sister Sarah died.

The details of what happened to Sarah Toboz aren't entirely clear, but whatever happened, David blamed himself and began a dark cycle of self-hate and obsessive research into robotics and trans-humanism which led to him going mad in early college. Renaming himself "Professor Zobot" even without ever graduating from college. His early activities as a Mad mostly involved attempts on the life of his older brother, Richard Toboz, who he held a longstanding loathing with. But eventually, he moved to Xyon City and settled down to more conventional evil schemes, starting by trying to blackmail Jane Narbon into killing So It Begins. This ended in an alliance between So It Begins and Jane Narbon which resulted in dropping an exploding building on Professor Zobot. As a last ditch effort to try and avoid death, Professor Zobot transferred most of his consciousness into a prototype robotic arm, a part of a larger robot design which was meant to house several independent A.I.s. But the transfer wasn't completed in time, and most of Zobot's consciousness ended up in the arm, with most of the basic biological functions and a few scattered, unwanted memories staying in the body. Against all logic, the body physically survived the exploding building, but was buried underneath the building. It SHOULD have been a drooling vegetable, but because the Madness gene was active, it was something... more. Possessing nothing save a instinctive urge to SURVIVE, the body, an empty shell, dug it's way out of the wreckage despite having lost an arm and being covered in burn wounds. A miracle to be sure, but what happened next was even more unlikely: The newly dubbed "Zobot Arm" and the Empty Shell met, and, needing a new arm to replace it's lost one, the Empty Shell too the robot arm and used it as a prosthetic. The Empty Shell was discovered quickly afterwards by Andrew Tinker, who took it home and named it "David Toboz". David, from there, slipped back into old behaviors, and decided to try and become a hero, helped by a morally dubious and suspect Robotic Arm with it's own agenda.

The events surrounding David Toboz's family have been involved in several chapters since then, and several figures associated with the Toboz Family have been major Antagonists in the Mad Sci Wars. David started out as an emotionally childish and immature figure who tried to save people and screwed up more often than not. During the first Martian Invasion he fought against the invading Martian fleet, and eventually, along with Jane Narbon, was able to destroy the fleet and end the war. During the Mad Sci Convention, David was unwillingly put into an event known as Hero's Quest, where a single hero is pitted against various Mad Scientists who play to pretend to be fantasy monsters in a realistic dungeon setting. (Imagine like an inversion of True Dungeon where people play the antagonists instead of the protagonists.) Although it was fun for the villians, it was a life-changing experience for David, who went through a lot of pain and lost a bit of his innocence during the final battle verses an Oni named Sayasuke. David emerged from the experience victorious, a million dollars richer but a little bit darker. Despite that, he still tries to be nice and positive.

The events of "Project Tanglebox" ultimately saw David temporarily vanish from the game. The Zobot Arm, his sentient prosthetic, turned on him and used a device to erase all the data from his mind, leaving his body completely empty. Fortunately, there was a backup copy that was later found, and by the end of the chapter Andrew Tinker was able to restore David, bringing him back. The events of "The Bluelight Project" saw David contribute to the final fight with So It Begins, fighting alongside most of the cast. Still, watching SiB die left David a bit concerned, since he knew how close SiB and Andrew Tinker and Jane had been. Since then, David has been increasingly afraid of the possibility that he'd someday have to fight someone he once called a friend.

In the chapter "Energy and Potential" David was a significant part of the antagonists evil plan. The leader of a group known as the Neverborn, Robin Toboz, was also the mother of David, Richard, and Sarah. She kidnapped several members of the cast, including David, Claire, and JaneTor, and attempted to feed them to an otherworldly entity that she was trying to bring forth. She didn't succeed, and all three of them escaped and went on to play significant roles in the final battle. David Toboz eventually went on to ensure that Robin's plan could never be repeated by severing the Link Between Worlds, a unique connection between the Positive Universe (where Mad Sci Wars occurs) and the Negative Universe (an opposite universe to the positive universe, picture one where everything is flipflopped; Good is Evil, Evil is Good, etc) which was at the core of her evil plan. Ever since then he's found that for some reason he's gained a tattoo of an infinity symbol on his fleshy hand, which at times transforms into a sword in that hand. He has no idea how it works, and thus far it's been more annoying than beneficial.

David is, at present moment, dating Andrew Tinker. The two of them seem to get along very well.

In the Negative Universe, David's counterpart is Professor Zobot, commonly referred to as Nega-Zobot or just nZobot to try and avoid confusion. Once a hero, he eventually became a villian. Cynical, sarcastic, and generally grumpy, he's every bit David's opposite. Despite his cagey and often abrasive demeanor, he's shown a slightly softer side and is married to Andrew Tinker's counterpart. He seems to have a weakness to genuine sincere affection towards him, and can't stand it when people are nice to him, possibly because he feels guilty about being such a jerk.

Claire Umbra grew up in a family full of Mads, so she's very good with Mad logic and, to some extent, technology. Of course, this means she still doesn't know how to properly use a toaster, or what the 'walk' signal on a traffic sign means. She isn't Mad herself, though, and most of her cousins look down on her for it. She was childhood friends with Primary Xerox, who tended to protect her from her cousins' experiments. Her Grandpa is also big on time and dimensional travel, so not only is she older than she seems, she's been to a lot of interesting times and places. Not that it usually occurs to her that this is in any way remarkable. She ran away from home a few years ago, tried college and got scared by the lack of explosions, and ran off to become a henchwoman. Currently, she's working for Jane Narbon. Andrew Tinker just recently adopted her, feeling that her parents weren't doing a very good job. She loves explosives and lightning, and all of her cooking is incredibly toxic, if tasty. She's very strong, and sturdy enough that her incredible lack of common sense hasn't managed to injure her too severely yet. She's also a catgirl, so she's easily distracted by mice and jingly balls, is often trapped in yarn, and is terrified of big dogs. If you call her a Hero she will freak out and try to attack and possible kill you.

Jennifer Umbra is Claire's youngest cousin. She was driven Mad by Claire at a young age, via a strange use of 'you can't guess what number I'm thinking right now.' She specializes in mind control, and was until recently trying to take over the world as part of a game with her cousins. Her parents and Aunts and Uncles stopped the game, and she was supposed to fade into the background for a bit. Instead, she's in Xyon, working in the game store with Fredric. She also has an interesting relationship with Michael Toboz.

Crash Umbra was created about 25 years ago by Claire and Jennifer's cousin Arthur. He's a robot optimized to break things, although he has an android body that allows him to pass for a human (albeit one with blue hair). He's also not allowed near microwave ovens anymore. While he used to just hang out at his Dad's lab and bug him, he recently started working at M for The Steve. He also is hooked up to a bunch of robots who look like squirrels all over the US (with a few in foreign countries). The robots are called Tufties.

And I posted it in the Mad Sci Notebook already, but I think it fits here better. The Umbra family tree! (again)

Image

Some notes:
-Crash, Burn and Code are all robots who appear human.

-Boxxy is a Xbox with holorpojectors who alternates between looking like a lion/porcupine thing and a human/lion/porcupine thing. He's taking classes at the local college.

-Archimedes is a giant, hot-pink dog.

-Vienna didn't fit on the tree, but she's Claire's grandma, and a Mad biologist.

-Arthur sometimes has a jaeger-like accent, although he denies it.

Okay, I will attempt to describe the soap opera Chic has become!
Chicgeek, began as Dr.Emily Maria Lopez-Smythe. A steampunk style mad, enamored of lightning and radio, a devotee of Tesla. A child prodigy. The arrogant head of her department stole credit for her work, laughed at her, made nasty insinuations as to how she got a professorship at 19...Yeah. Chic snapped that night. She broke the code on lost notebooks of Nicola Tesla that she'd somehow aqquired, drank a lot of lightning infused coffee, made an earthquake gun, and zapped the jerk as he was filling up his ferrari. She forgot, or didn't care, what effect a localised earthquake would have on the underground storage gas tanks...Lovely fireball, though.
Her mother's family is Lopez Muntions, a multinational firm of weapon manufacturers that has been around forever. Somewhere in the distant past a caveman picked up a rock, and a proto-lopez sidled up to him and casually said, 'I can hook you up with a sharper one. For a price...'
Ahem. Chic came to Xyon, took over an abandoned pasta factory as a lair (since destroyed and rebuilt),fought Dr.Amino, made friends with Wallace Cain, and crashed her mini hyper zepplelin near the home of Dr. Andrew Tinker. At the time her henchman was Desius Raize.
Fought redneck mads, (fallout from a virus SiB developed and David Toboz released during the first Martian invasion).
Things really changed during the Mad Scientist Awards/Convention.
Her hench was revealed to be Tinker's long lost cousin, the adopted son of the Tinker Twins. She was revealed to be the long lost daughter of Vladimer Viktor, (elder brother of the twins) so also the cousin of Des and Andrew.
There was no madness in the Lopez family line, and her uncle and grandfather came up with a plan to add it in. Chic's mom was set up with Vlad, (after being given a healthy dose of fertility medication), since the Viktors are one of the strongest spark lines out there. Since Chic had turned her back on the Lopez family to strike out on her own, they had her under survaillence. Chic revealed privately to Des and Andrew that her mother commited suicide, blaming Chic for abandoning her, and Chic destroyed the note, setting her father-well, stepfather, up to take the fall. He was a cold, unloving, bad tempered man, who bullied her mother, and Chic felt he deserved it.(deep down, this still haunts her. This was shortly before she went mad.) Stepfather was mysonginistic enough to feel college would be wasted on girls.
Chic fully expected to be despised and shunned for this-but wanted to start off with a clean slate to the closest members of her new family.
So...all during the convention, she finds out about said survaillence, gains a new family, changes her name to Lopez-Viktor, and hooks up with Wallace Cain. (Yeah, Elleb, David's fairy, cast a powerful attraction spell on Wally and Chic. With public and embarrasing effect!) And she fights an epic battle with Jane Narbon. Oh, and it's revealed the shapeshifter, Chimera, is her old childhood buddy. Chic tested out of school at 14, Jess(Chimera) at 16, and the two ran off from home together then. They had a harrowing and hilarious roadtrip before Chic started college.
Yeah, busy convention.
Later, after Andrew fights a duel with Jane to settle all old scores and start with a clean slat, Chic and Jane change from firece rivals to great friends. Chic had always been flightly, impulsive, goodnatured, but refused to be hero or villain. With Jane, she becomes more prankish, and indulged her evil side a bit.
Chic's paternal grandfathers do some dna work on her, and inform her that she and her mother were experimented on, under orders from her uncle, dating back to when she was in the womb. This lead to Chic's jaeger characterists being supressed, to make her more controllable, and lead to her mother suffering what amounted to a permanent case of depression. When Dr.Io offers to try and reverse the damage, she takes him up on it. And, right before Bluelight, gains claws, pointy teeth, purple hair, ect. Still a mere 5 feet tall!
She is kidnapped almost immediatly by Michael Toboz, driven sane with his sanity virus, put in a sense dep tube with a virtual reality setting to keep her out of the way until needed. Virus wears off, she breaks free, is driven mad for the second time, and rampages through Xyon, wearing a cascading, sparking, emp field that causes all to fall dark where she passes.
Primary Xerox, head of M, runs after her, as much to protect her as stop her. Even though it means he has missed his dose of sanity medication, and at long last goes mad. Chic is still boggled by this, and from then on considers him her brother.
Mainly, Chic keeps developing mad vehicles and weaponry, and leads a happy go lucky life. She electrified Q, David's stone temple/ice cream parlor, and built Andrew a clockwork hand. Oh, and she seems to be immune to lightning, indeed, enjoys it.
Recently, the Chimera decided to investigate Chic's past, with her consent and Xerox's aid. The Chimera's father was the mad biologist hired by her uncle and grandfather to experiment on Chic...
They find she was experimented on with impunity, because they had spares. She was one of a set of quads. The three embros were found in a cryotank at Lopez headquarters in Spain. Lopez, Ltd., claimed a coverup, and was shocked, shocked. Triplets are soon to be born, to be raised by her father Vlad, and his new wife, Minerva Dries. Dr.Dries, Mad Librarian, took a 14 year old Emily under her wing at college, and became her mentor. Close as they are, Chic still has mixed feelings about the marriage, but keeps them firmly clamped down.
Chic is a freelance agent for M, out of friendship. And because it's a lot of fun! She still causes havoc with Jane, and will deny being hero or villain. She entered the Frankenstein Grand Prix, and made a respectable showing. She has a rival, Kid Atomic.
No henchman since Desius left. She has her mechanical living metal vine/attack grove/parts supplier, Mecha, that Andrew created. She has her AI, Godfrey, who was the first Mad creation of Xerox. And her giant mutated dog, Sparky, who was busted out of the Xyon zoo by Mecha, and who has human-at least-intelligence. Mecha's at least middle school smart, but it's hard to measure. Oh, and her living coffepot, who communicates with gurgles and puffs of steam. So, she makes do.
Currently-she has moved Wally's stuff back to his base. He moved in with her after it was destroyed, but she has decided that the uncertainty of his randomly disappearing is a bit much for her to deal with. They'll talk if he reappears.
She's just met Mad villain, and League of Villainy member Rad Atomic, and despite vowing that a man in her life is the last thing she needs, is being reluctantly swept off her feet. This will cause problems for her later.
While working in the lab at M, on making devices to detect the slime shapeshifters from Mars(is that a great B movie name or what?), a flashback was triggered. Old, supressed memories have surfaced, and she now knows that mental conditioning was part of the Lopez experiment. That she tinkers constantly because she is compelled to, that she was conditioned to view the lab as a refuge. This has left her shaken, wondering how much she can trust her own thoughts, and how much of her personality is a construct, conditioning that is far too ingrained to shake at this point.
Oh, and apparently she's just gained the 14 chair at the LOV, as the heir apparant to Tesla!
Yeah. Soap opera. I warned you...Any questions, ask in the pester thread, since this is longer than Hiawatha!

Now it's the Chimera's turn!
Her friends call her Jess. During the Frankenstein Grand Prix, she ran across her mother, who calls her Jessica. Don't do that if you want to hire her. Her father is a mad biologist, Dr. Gallager.
So....Jess is the childhood friend of ChicGeek, also an only child. The two of them have always been best friends. She and Chic both tested out of school early. Chic was going to college in the fall, but rather than spend another minute more than they had to in town, they hit the road in an old car Chic got running.
At 16 for Jess, and 14 for Chic.
Jess's father is a cool, unemotional scientist (mad biologist), who at the time worked for Lopez Munitions, Ltd. Her mother is a stereotypical, superficial, class obsessed, country club member, poisonously sweet...she and Jess fought a lot.
Jess calls Chic nerd girl, or geek. Chic calls Jess punk, or goth girl. Jess was indeed a punk. On said road trip, Jess and Chic are kidnapped by a mad biologist-this is in the Tales of madness. Jess recieved a mysterious injection, and her latent shapeshifter mutation activated.
Shapeshifters-heriditary, but often remaining dormant. Most can just shift from one human form to another, and it takes a few minutes. At the time, Jess could shift instantly, even could adopt a lizardman form, and developed solid silver eyes. Blame it on genetics, experiments done by her father, and whatever the madman who caught her gave her.
She uses her abilities to become a thief and spy, and adopts the name Chimera. Her first major job, when she was 17, was in Beijing, and pitted her against the new head of M, Primary Xerox. Both fell for each other, hard, but each let the other slip away.
The Chimera becomes the operative to hire, due to her shapeshifing, her smarts, and her attention to detail. She keeps detailed files on potential targets-"There's no such thing as too much information." She reconnected with Chic during the Mad Scientist Awards/Convention.
Jess had always had a crush on Chic, but never let on-and Chic remains clueless. Yes, Jess is bisexual, and is comfortable in male or female form. For both she wears casual male clothing-tshirt, jeans, a black duster she picked up out west, or a leather jacket. Formal wear is an elegant men's black suit. Think Annie Lennox.
Standard form is female, short cropped red hair, tall, slim female, and cool sunglasses, to hide her eyes. She always has several pairs of contact lenses to wear while she's in disguise, and gripes about the necessitry. Oh, and she rides a black Triumph Spitfire motorcycle.
Chic called her for help gathering info during Tanglebox, and when Jess couldn't reach Chic (there was a communications blackout) she canceled a lucrative job, and came to Xyon. It was all over when she arrived, however!
She and Xerox met accidentaly at Andrew Tinker's house. Xerox recognizes her right away, despite the fact that she was male at Beijing, calls her 'Convict', and attempts to arrest her, despite her being the lost love of his life. Yeah, they were on opposite sides then, and he was miffed that she'd slipped him a mint back then, among other things.
Chic intervenes, Jess tricks Xerox into a date, and the head of M department and the notorious Chimera become an item.
Her father is arrested by Xerox, along with Chic's grandfather and uncle, when Xerox does an investigation of the American branch of Lopez Munitions. She and Xerox has words, but the relationship endured. Jess had not know that her father was involved in the experiments on Chic. She has an uneasy relationship with her dad, complicated by how alike they are. She doesn't trust him, but doesn't hate him. They aren't close, but she chewed Xerox out when he arrested him.
The loner Jess decides to stick around Xyon-she'd just travelled from job to job before. During the Dangerous Minds Arc, Jess has a major metamorphisis. The hero Radiant, powerful member of the Ten Gentleman, is not in his right mind, and attacks Xerox. Jess...evolves.
She grows fangs, claws, tentacles, and grabs Radiant and poisons him, subduing him. So-she gained the ability to add any animal form or ability at will, becoming a Chimera in fact. Oh, and she proposes to Xerox during that chapter a bit later on.
We see later that there is a loose cabal of shapeshifters, who are very interested in Jess, and are watching her. She still doesn't know this. It was hinted during the Prix that her mother has an agenda of some sort. During a brief visit with her imprisoned father, it's hinted he knows more than he's telling. This may become relevant later.
At the end of the Energy and Potential chapter, she and Xerox marry. Despite the fact that she is not giving up being the superthief/spy, and Xerox isn't giving up M department. It works, somehow.
Jess is cool with a captial C, self confident without arrogance, and mildly mad. Not 'bwahhahaha create stuff to destroy the earth/take over mad', but she claims to 'think like a mad', and gets along with/is comfortable with madness.
For some reason, Jess has become my favorite character. She was a bit character from a Tales of Madness that muscled her way into the story, and made me like it.

Prof. Revel Cogson is perhaps unique among the ranks of those classified as 'Mad'.

In that, well, he's Sane.

Revel, as a thinker by design, is like a linguist in a cave full of neandertals. Everyone has the potential to think, but only he does it correctly.

Revel was, and had always been, a bit of a dreamer. While his feet were definately on solid ground, his head was eternally in the clouds. He took an interest in ethics and the study of history and religeon at a very young age, and proved brilliant at everything from mathematics to science to illustration. Direction was never a problem for Revel; his life seemed to go where it wanted, towing him behind. His love of thinking led him directly to a degree in philosophy, and he went from there to teaching it as a professor. however, as a teacher he was fairly abysmal. Students struggled to keep up with his lessons, his train of thought going at a pace much faster than anyone else's and leaving them confused in it's wake. The only student ever to actually do well at his course went mad herself.

Then Revel was fired. Misunderstanding a jest about providing the coveted 'Meaning of Life' in exchange for career security, Revel started thinking.

And Revel finally went Mad.

In self-defense, his own mind re-activated the commonly-called 'weirdness censor', barricading itself against Revel's madness. Revel's barely-contained rationalisations and thoughts proved capable of warping reality around himself, for through understanding comes control.

Revel finally came into contact with more Mads at the event of a martian invasion, through which events he came to observing the Abyss of the universe. They say that when you gaze into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.

And so Revel stared the universe down.

Returning to his office through unknown methods, Revel became increasingly disturbed by those who were Mad. They were unpredictable, even to him. An anomaly. Unsafe.

And then, as was inevitable, Revel went Sane. Not the half-stupid sanity of the masses, the cold, rock-hard Sanity of he who has seen what to do, and can see no reason not to do it.

Yay! People are using the Character's Page!

And it's great to see you around, Revel!

Ok... next one on my list...

There's a good chance Richard Toboz dislikes you. It's not your fault, really. Richard Toboz, the oldest member of the Toboz children, has a general distaste for Mad Scientists and anything affiliated with them which stems back to his early childhood in source. As the only non-Spark in a family of them, Richard has consistently been reminded (mostly by his mother) that he's considered inferior, useless, and in general a waste of biological material. Richard returned this scorn in kind with his animosity, and mostly due to his upbringing grew up rather prejudiced against Mad Scientists in general. It didn't help that most of his experiences with Sparks at early age were with less-than-upstanding individuals: his Mother abandoned her children and vanished, erasing all government records of her children with her for some reason; his younger brother hated him for being too controlling; and his little sister was saddled with a genetic condition which left her sickly and weak, generating constant worry from her older two siblings. He is a tall man with short black hair and blue eyes, and fairly muscular.

Faced with being the person in charge in his young teens, Richard had to be the one to make the hard decisions, and despite everything, tried desperately to keep his family together. This made him seem heavy-handed and domineering, which his younger brother rebelled against, putting increasing tension between the two of them. Sarah Toboz's death was the breaking point within which the remaining members of the Toboz Family fractured apart. After years of falling through the cracks of society for the sake of keeping his family together, in losing Sarah Richard grew cold and distant, and his brother and he went their separate ways. Richard went off to study biology and medicine, eventually becoming a doctor and later a surgeon, and David went off to college to become an engineer, later went Mad, and tried again and again to kill his older brother afterwords before settling down to general evil.

Richard is a consummate perfectionist who isn't happy with anything other than being the best. Competitive, aggressive, and often detached, Richard Toboz studies constantly to hone his mind and practices several martial arts to hone his body. He is a black belt in Kyokushin-kyo karate and knows several other disciplines, and is rumored to be able to break steel with his bare hands. Despite everything, Richard cares about his brother David and has rallied to his support several times since David's rebirth. However, he cares little for other Sparks and will usually refuse to associate or interact with them unless forced to. However, he has grown to the point where if one takes the time to get through his shell, he will turn out to be a loyal, if cold, friend despite any preexisting factors. It may come as a surprise to nearly everyone that, given his dislike of Mad Scientists and their ilk, he is in fact married to Lady Katharine Drezebel, a self-proclaimed Mad Artist. How they became romantically entangled in the first place is a bit of a story itself, and is available for reading in the Tales of Madness thread, under the 4-part story "Paint and Blood, Scalpel and Brush", which may be found here. Richard Toboz has also adopted Ann.

Richard Toboz has no Negative Universe Counterpart. Officially such a person does not exist in any of that world's government records, and never has. Yup. No secrets here...

Lady Katharine Drezebel
(Just call her Lady Drezebel. Call her Kathy or Katharine and you'll die.) is a self-proclaimed Mad Artist and a relentless pervert. It's debatable whether or not she's ACTUALLY a Spark or not, but she certainly acts like one! Energetic, flirty, friendly, and a bit overbearing, Drezebel is commonly seen as a brown-haired woman with blue eyes and is never seen without her trademark white labcoat stained with various colors of paint. Drezebel is a bisexual woman with an interest in male and female anatomy that's probably less than healthy. She is a yaoi fangirl and commonly draws shonen-ai and shojo-ai in her spare time, as well as stalking various individuals for "inspiration." She also apparently likes to swim a lot, although it may just be an excuse to see people in skimpy clothing. Regardless of whether she's actually a Spark or not, she seems to possess some odd, reality-warping powers that are expressed through her art. She can temporarily create objects or even working machines in the real world by drawing them, as long as they aren't overly complex, and can make doors and holes leading to... somewhere... by painting them on walls or floors (It's speculated that she uses this power to teleport.) Strangely enough, Lady Drezebel doesn't seem to ever use her powers to create living things. If asked about this, she has typically just grown very quiet and ignored the question. If pressed, she'll either grow angry or sad after this and refuse to speak with people anymore.

Despite being outgoing, Lady Drezebel has very few real friends. Part of this is because her behavior, on average, is very unnerving and often borderline illegal, which causes most people to give her a wide berth. She has a tendency to be clingy and over-protective of the people she HAS in her life as well. Drezebel also seems to have trouble understanding social norms such as etiquette and polite speech, and has a tendency to be as blunt as a sledgehammer. Although Drezebel tends to act enthusiastic and strong in most circumstances, those close to her can occasionally see a bit of a sadder, depressed side to her personality she tries to hide, and deep down, she's rather lonely and has trouble relating to others. Amazingly enough, she's married to Richard Toboz, who she shares a "Look but don't touch" agreement with regarding her perverted behavior. Drezebel is a bit more of a girly-girl than she'd like to admit, and secretly likes things she'll openly claim to dislike, such as large, ornate, frilly dresses. Only appears in the game on an infrequent basis because she has a tendency to walk the fine line between PG-13 and M in terms of rating.

Drezebel's negative-universe alternate is commonly referred to as nDrezebel. She's a highly disturbed, mentally unstable sociopath who the government of the Negative-Earth has imprisoned on a floating island in the ruins of Old New York in a desperate bid to contain. Being sent to "The Floating Island of Old New York" is widely regarded as a death sentence, as while nDrezebel enjoys having "volunteers" to help her with her art, inevitably they never leave the island alive. Has an odd way of speaking and describes herself as the "Bad End" and Drezebel as the "Good End". Unlikely to ever appear in the game, but occasionally shows up in chat. Just stand still and pray she doesn't see you. And hope she leaves quickly.

I guess it is my turn.

Hawk (or Dr Hawk or Hawk Wolf but usually goes by Hawk) recently came to Xyon to set up shop called "Gadgeteer's solution" or nicknamed by the staff, "the shop." Hawk (who is stuck between being mad and sane), his partner Wing (a full mad who Hawk met a long while back and have not shown up in Xyon yet) and their assistant Miss Clay (A short tempered non mad) have made a living off of supplying parts for mads and doing projects as well. Due to the valuable parts the shop tends to carry, the shop have a very sophisticated and near impenetrable security when fully activated

Hawk is only part mad and is stuck there. While he have a great understanding how mad tech works, he have trouble coming up with any mad tech he has not seen before. He is not prone to ranting, building doomsday devices or even planning on it. He has been taught that mad science is bad and he still carries that little bit with him. He sometimes bounces between wanting to be a full mad to wishing he as not mad at all. Does not help that he have a chemical imbalance in his mind and requires special medication to keep it balanced.

Miss Clay (Urza Clay but she prefers to go by Miss Clay. Full Name Urza Adolf Clay) Is not the same kind of mad that a lot of people tend to be in Xyon city. She has a temper to be reckon with but she is not a mad. She helped raise her siblings and this has helped her temper but it is still noticeable (Her temper was super short before she had to help raise her younger siblings). She believes many of the things that mads tend to do is down right silly and have even less patience for it. She is skilled with any stick-like objects (broom handles, quarterstaff's, yard sticks etc etc) and is not afraid to use it to get your attention. She does not scare easy and can be a bit bossy at times. her temper and bossiness has helped keep both Wing and hawk in check at times, mostly Hawk.

Miss Clay is going to school to learn structural engineering.

Recently Both hawk and Clay have been successfully replaced by their slime copies are are no longer slimes. However there is no proof that Hawk or Miss Clay is dead.

Foigran started out as a very simple character but quickly became one of my favorite characters with a delightfully disturbing past, personality, and goal. All of which, except the personality, are secret! Ok, not really, it's just his plan that's a secret. Foigran is one of the oldest beings on Earth except The Steve, Danny, and possibly a few others. Add onto his age the Eldrich Abomination he ate/absorbed and he may be older than anything introduced so far. He was originally a mad working on a project in ancient Sumeria , no not that one, that was a pale impersonation. The original ancient Sumeria would have dwarfed the Roman Empire at the height of it's power. Unfortunately Foigran kind of erased it from existence with one of his experiments, taking most of the magic in the world and himself with it. In the space between existences Foigran encountered an Eldrich being, The Steve's aunt to be precise, and in the resulting struggle managed to defeat it and absorb it's essence and power. Technically, he's still 'digesting' and so his powers are unreliable in that whenever observed he is unable to use most, save his immortality. From the same source he gained the perspective to deduce the existance of the fourth wall and the writers, who he hates with a vengeance. He has spent the past couple thousand years wandering the Earth preparing his ultimate plan and torturing random people for fun. He was captured by the progressors thirty years ago and was used to brainwash Demothesis. He recently escaped and will be working to complete his plan soon.

Demothesis
is probably my most mysterious character, seeing as most of his history is a secret. There have been quite a few hints I've dropped, though I'm not sure where they stand on the 'obvious/obscure' scale. What is known, to the writers at least, is that he works for a mysterious group known as the Progressors(honestly it sounds better in ancient Sumerian). He has completed quite a few missions for this group, mainly involving the assassination of Mads that seem to be on the verge of actually succeeding in destroying the world. No one knows what he was doing, or who he was before he began working for the progressors(really, it's better in ancient Sumerian), he thinks he knows his history, but it's a false memory, he was brainwashed by the mad scientist known as Foigran. He is currently working as Michael's henchman, and spent a brief period, during a fight with one of the Umbras, mad. He was 'reset' to his brainwashed personality and sent back to work with Michael to avoid suspicion.

Characters still on the list to write up: Laughingman, Anona, Zander, DR.KINESTRO!(TM), Diane, Wolfe, Ellie, Captain Cape and the Progressor's Shadowy Leader

Dr.Minerva Dries, mad librarian. Founder/administrator of The Library, at Redding college. Big? Yeah. The lost library of Alexandria is just one wing. Always more interested in the hunt, than in the administration. Was the dean's despair, but couldn't be gotten rid of. The Library buildings are the university's, but the books are hers.
The dean isn't too crazy about the gator pits, ect.. Plus Minerva never let how well connected a student's family was stand in the way of having a Mad fit if a book was damaged, or, heaven forbid, stolen. The foolish and foolhardy have found out, to their dismay...
Daughter of mad hero, art professor Dr. Penelope Goodbody, and the mad historian, mad villain, indeed LOV member Dr. Wilhem Dries, a.k.a. Dr.Omega. Both deceased. Rivals, foes, never wed but devoted to each other and their daughter. She grew up travelling with each of them. Learned fencing from them, among other things.
A youngish middle aged woman, typical glasses and red hair in a bun, wears a skirt even searching for a lost city in the jungle. Dark green lab coat and pith helmet, when needed.
Coy about her actual age. Similar to jaeger aging. She tends to find magical items and alien artifacts, when all she's looking for is a mysterious scroll. No money problems-family inheritance, and accumulates treasure when story hunting. Archaeologists both love and hate her. She finds things they never dreamed of, and preserves the history, but helps herself to the geegaws. Sometimes donating them!
Took a 14 year old Chic under her wing, when Chic came to college, and later married Chic's father, Vladimer Viktor. Resigned her post, in favor of her assistant, Farnsworth. Is officialy listed as being on sabbatical, but she won't take the job back from Farnsworth, even when she returns to Xyon.

Farnsworth. Formerly Gaius Scribonius Dentatus. A roman legionaire, in the time of emperor Vespacian. Was an educated man for his time, but didn't quite fit in with his family. Served his time, settled in England. Is a confirmed bachelor. His wife and children were slain. Gaius roamed, for years.
Minerva made a rare time travel jaunt to where a resigned Gaius and the small library he cared for were about to be engulfed in lava, and brought both forward. She'd been needing an assistant...
He runs the library now, after years of working with Minerva. And now the jaegerbrarian is looking for an assistant of his own.
Yeah, jaeger. His father was one of the first jaegers, escaped through a timeslip, with a flask of brau. Landed a bodyguard job, ran off with beautiful daughter, dies somehow. Farnsworth was either born jaeger, or given brau as an infant. He was raised by his grandfather, a citizen of some standing.
Anyway, he's a formal man, wears three piece suits with his own distinct touches. A breastplate in lieu of the vest, a helmet, pince-nez glasses. Carries a spear, jauntily. Yes, fangs, claws, strength, the enjoyment of combat...and an appreciation of a good cup of tea. Friends with Nemo Durant, the living library of ICU university.
Probably around 100 or thereabouts, I reserve the right to be flexible on that.
Was talked into playing a hench for Chic during the Frankenstein Grand Prix, as an old friend. Refuses to swear loyalty to the Heterodynes-what have they to do with him? Changed his name to Farnsworth after arriving in our century. A new world seemed to call for a new name. Keeps his past to himself. Is content to be running the world's largest, most varied library-it's a worthy challenge!
Most of his history and Minerva's are in the Tales of madness, just this with a bit more detail.

Location: What is a location but a point in a world without meaning?
Name: Pepper Harley Thomas Eccles Yon MacSavie

Age: 22

Mental state: Newly Mad.

Sex: Male.

Appearance:
Pepper MacSavie is a rather tall individual, with dark red hair and slightly slanted and knowing eyes. His clothes vary depending on what he intends you to think of him, and in certain circumstances he can make himself unrecogniseable.

History:
Pepper never really tried, that was his defining characteristic. In posession of a brilliant mind, he would nonetheless barely scrape by in school simply because of flippant disintrest.

After his education he was not much better, preferring the easy but hardly legal ways of money-making, from blackmail to cheque fraud, although he never did anything serious, and, in his mind, anything to those who didn't deserve it.

Nevertheless as a criminal he was brilliant. There was nothing to link him to his crimes, indeed, many facts discredited the notion. He engineered scenarios so beautifully that to a normal person it'd be inconceiveable that he'd be guilty at all.

And it was fun, to an extent. He was not as lazy as before, and certanly not as careless. Crime was a passion and a driving force for Pepper, and he did it well.

Until one day he got caught.

For the first time in his life, pepper was faced with real consiquences for his actions.

And then he went mad.

He did so quietly, and without fuss. He was apprehended, arrested and put in front of a Judge. He decided to represent himself in court.

He proceeded frame and discredit the detective who caught him.

After his subsiquent release, Pepper proceeded to explore the feilds he had shirked on. His Madness expanded to explore them all, science, mathematics, psychology, sociology, physics, engineering, he absorbed the information like a sponge.

But still his greatest intrest was crime...

But he didn't want to do it again; doing it was too easy. Committing the crime was the easy part.

Catching the criminal was the hard part.

For the first time in his life, Pepper went out of his own way to challenge himself.

The first criminal he caught was a serial arsonist by the name of Connors. he was tied up and plonked right on the footsteps of the police station, and when questioned, the horrified Connors confessed to everything.

Pepper ousted and captured several illegal drug-runners within the course of a week, doing what the local police force could not accomplish in a month. He trapped murderers, rapists, theives, pimps, rackateers, bent cops...

And the best thing was, he wasn't doing it as part of the police force.

So, technically, what he was doing was illegal.

This only increased the challenge (And thus the fun). The ingenuity of covering your tracks while simultaniously following the barely-visible ones of others surely was a brilliant challenge.

The first time Pepper outmanouvered and captured another Mad Genius he was almost killed.

Now THAT was a challenge.

Wallace Caine

Wallace Caine, usually nicknamed Wally, started life normally enough for someone living in the city of Xyon. In fact, Wally's upbringing was perfectly normal, right up until the age of five. At that point, he went mad. When a kindergarten bully pushed him into the trash, he proceeded to make a cyborg out of the trash, and chased the boy around the school with it. Unusually enough, no one was killed, or even hurt by the creation. At first, his parents tried to deal with his Madness, but eventually, they had to get outside help, bringing them to the attention of M. The organization helped stabilize his life, making sure that none of his creations ever really hurt anybody. That helped him grow up as normal as a Mad child can, at least until the day his pet rabbit was hit by a car.

After the subsequent revival, aided by the help of one Eric Tinker, there is some confusion as to what followed. Wally swore up and down that he created the three giant mechanical rabbits, which went on to lay waste to a significant portion of the city. Oddly enough, he was unconscious when authorities forced their way into the recovery room where Lagos had been placed. Deeming it necessary to keep him under closer observation, it was suggested that they move him to a more specialized school, able to better deal with Mad Children. His parents agreed, and they soon moved to another city, leaving Xyon behind... for now.

After a small 'Incident' at a local community college there, years later, it was... suggested that Wally transfer. Upon arriving back in Xyon, he soon made connections to the local Mad community, becoming Professor Tinker's assistant, in addition to taking his classes. In the process of fighting off some redneck Mads with the Professor, he also met Desuis and Chicgeek, being decidedly more interested in the latter. Eventually, they went on a date, and then attended the Mad Sci Convention, where a Fairy spell rather accelerated things, much to his simultaneous embarrassment and delight. Around that time, he was contacted by a mysterious organization, leading into his involvement with Tanglebox.

After eventually helping to defeat Tanglebox, and some peripheral involvement in Project Bluelight, Wally became more integrated into the Mad community. As part of the group that eventually helped defeat Robin Toboz, it was even more inexplicable when he disappeared shortly afterwards. After a tragic lab accident, he was thrown through the dimensions on a six year tour, eventually resulting in him being deposited back into the same laboratory, about three months later. As a result of this inter-dimensional jaunt, he's returned visibly aged and collected more than a few scars, some of which are self-inflicted. Additionally, many of his cyborg enhancements have been modified or replaced, as he came in contact with or created better and stronger technologies for them.

-Characters that Professor Zobot on-occasion uses or will use:-

-Dave Olsen: A paragon of villainy in his own mind. Dave Olsen is actually a quite capable member of the Dave Conspiricy's Procurement division, meaning that if you need something obtained he's probably the one to get it. He's good enough at his job that his superiors allow him his delusions that he's a dread supervillian. Dave Olsen has been given the job of recruiting David Toboz into the Dave conspiricy no matter what, with no time limit for completing this goal. He's thus far gone about this goal in the most roundabout way possible and has yet to actually even say a WORD to David Toboz, but has been very successful in causing nearly everyone else in the game to get annoyed whenever he appears. For some reason, he's been lit on fire and despite not thinking to put it out, has yet to succumb to immolation. In fact, it seems more annoying to him than anything else. Has sworn vengence on Dana Amino and Kinestro more than once.

-Marguerite Olsen: Dave Olsen's wife, whose existance caused most people who know Dave Olsen to flip out. Proof that opposites attract if nothing else... Marguerite is a rather capable scientist who actually probably has the smarts and talents to make a capable villain, but not the interest. She usually can't be bothered about anything other than her hobby of attending social functions and nightlife events in an attempt to climb up the social ladder at everyone else's expense. Ruthless, but only when she needs to be. Speaks with an accent of unverifiable origin, because the author can't be bothered to keep it consistent. Has pink hair and a tendency to accessorize. As a scientist, her day job is centered around optics, the study of light and it's functions. No, she's not Mad. Anything else about her, including how she and Dave ended up an item, are thus far unknown.

Hmm, we haven't used this page for a while. Think I'll hijack it a little. :)
Other characters of mine-
Sparky-A green, six legged, long fanged, two tailed giant dog. Two retractable arms-green and shaggy to match her fur, were grafted on later. Mecha broke her out of the Xyon City Zoo, when he wanted a pet. Sparky has at least human intelligence, and is the mad creation of the departed Dr. Neutron. Can create small zaps of electricity. She lives with Chic Geek. Has a great love of the Avengers, and has all the episodes on dvd.

Mecha-Andrew Tinker created a small, living metal vine during the Redneck Wars arc, as a weapon. It was never used, and given to Chic. She babied it, and it flourished, to say the least. It went from a room sized metal plant that played poker with her henchman and the coffeepot, to an immense attack grove complex, that surrounds Chic's base. Think the wall of thorns around sleeping beauty's castle. It grows gears, widgits, led lights, circuit board, ect. ect. She made a voice synthysizer for it, which was a vast improvement over communicating by writing notes. Mecha is 'he' simply for pronoun convenience, and calls Chic Mom. Helps Chic around the lab by handing her tools/growing parts, and takes care of Sparky. Who is technically his pet, despite Sparky being more intelligent.

Coffeepot-Desius decreed the coffepot sentient way back. Communicated by puffs of steam, ect. Chic didn't realize it was aware for a long time. Keeps Chic well supplied with her special lightning infused coffee, although Chic carries a small vial of lightning extract for when she's out. Don't play poker with it-it'll take you to the cleaners.

Godfrey Clerk-Don't know if he's mine or Tinkers! Xerox made a computer with AI for Chic, in his first flush of Madness after Project Bluelight. Godfrey can use solid light tech to rez when he wishes, although he's a bit lazy. His projected form is red hair pulled back in a neat ponytail and glasses-kind of a cross between a jaeger and a clerk.

Kid Atomic-Oh, I have fun with this one. His back story is in the Tales of Madness. I'll dig up which page later and edit it in. His real name is Eddie Trevano, although his girlfriend is the only one who calls him Eddie. Was 17 in 1962 when he went mad, souped up his car, went as fast as he could...and annoyed another mad who shot his new ray at him. Kid Atomic was flung forward in time. I call him a cross between James Dean and Buck Rogers. He owns and operates Atomic Motors. Makes rocket cars, and rocket cycles. Talks like the hepcat he is, dig? Will soon be married to Desdemona, who works at the Coffee 'N Toffee. A world weary, smark aleck, and smart barista seemed a good match for him.... He's a rival to Chic Geek. Laitu will end up working with/apprenticed to him in game. Rolf used to work for him, until the Heterodyne promoted Rolf to Xyon Ambassador. Is the posiverse version of Tinker's character, Rad Atomic. Which is odd, because all they have in common is how they look(thaey deliberatly dress very differently), and the fact that they were both flung forward in time. Although Rad's from the 80's.
Tales of Mdness, page 34, October. His origin. Page 31, June, a day working with Rolf.

Rolf-Part of the Black Hat Brigade. The youngest member-he was born around 1792-and the shortest. He's 5'4", and bishy. Yes, he has a chip on his shoulder. Has a lot of common sense for a jaeger. Oh, and he's green, with darker green hair. Is dating Claire. Also in the Tales of Madness. Twice, even. When I'm feeling less lazy, I'll past his links in. Supposedly left the BHB to stay in America, to be with Claire, and that's when he worked for Kid Atomic. He's mechanically inclined, and grew up with mad cousins, so he's used to Mads. The Heterodyne promoted him to their ambassador in Xyon. Real reason he's in America, is to guard/help/keep and eye on the Tinker family jaegers in the city. Although almost no one knows that. He did plead with the Heterodyne for permission to stay here, after he met Claire. It was quickly granted. He can drop the accent when he makes an effort, but usually doesn't.
tales of madness, pages 33, august, his origin. A day working with Kid Atomic, june, page 31.

Penny- Penny Bright. Mad biologist. Daughter of sane but eccentric vets Dr. Russell Ulysses Bright II, and Dr. Irene Margaret Bright, nee Fine. College student at I.C.U. in Xyon. Dr. Beard is her mentor. Penny makes cute but deadly chimeras, which are often in her pockets. Is dating Sir Honor. Friends with Boxxy, has taken at least one class with Dr. Andrew Tinker, knows Rando T. Veelan from college. Also Sarcastic, and Sahara. Kahn, after getting most of his bones broken a while back, recuperated at the vet clinic, so she knows him as well. She's 19, has frizzy curly hair usually in an untidy ponytail, and is the color of a new penny, hence her parent's choice of name. Dr. Ironicus (mad biology) is her uncle on her mother's side, and Papa Grey(voodoo-possibly mad, haven't decided) is her great grandfather on her father's side.
Pets are Mr.Peepers the pirana canary, Fuzzypaws the kitten scorpion, Rex the wolf bat, and Roberts. The Dread Raccoon Roberts, the raccoon spider. Rex is the only one that talks, is ticked that he's only chihuahua sized, considers himself fearsome, NOT cute!, and has appointed himself her guardian. The others-may be smarter than they appear.....
Possibly.
Her family-page 38, tales of madness. August. Also on page 38, second from the top, Ironicus.
Dr. Ironicus and Ursula Barely appeared so far! Lives waay up north, outside of a little town in the Artic called Frostbite Falls (he made them change the name). Biology, and clockwork. Ursula is his lab assistant. She's a mutated polar bear. Has a team of clockwork sled dogs. Uses a steam cannon, and something he calls the ultra ray-it has a nice aurora boreialis effect. Is Penny's uncle, also in a Tale of Madness. Eccentric, but what mad isn't? If Xerox wasn't already mad, Dr. Ironicus would drive him to it. Polite, but manages to evade answering questions, ect., despite Xerox's best efforts. All while being quite genial. Despite being corrected, will refer to Xerox as the Commodore. Despairs of teaching Ursula how to cook well. That may be why he doesn't do anything worse to the lonely outpost near him than making them change their name and such-he makes a trip to the diner when he can't stand Ursula's cooking anymore. The pie is amazing. Plus, if he went on a rampage and destroyed it, where would he be? There's no other outposts around.

Zia Zia Veccio. Has only been in one post so far :) , but as long as I'm typing. Has just been hired by Farnsworth to be assistant librarian at The Library. This is a important, time consuming job. For example, she's running the place while he's in Mechanicsburg. Looks human, but is something other/more. Unknown at this time. Character concept was stolen from the Zelazny book Doorways in the Sand. I.E., a main character that had an uncle provide lavishly for them in their will, as long as they were going to school and not yet graduated. So, is one credit short of every degree there is. Her list of almost-degrees would take a few paragraphs. Has run out of degrees, but has assured Farnsworth that even if more become available, she's commited to staying at The Library. It's a challenge. She's uniquely qualified for the position. She looks early 20's, has black hair long enough for a ponytail. She will come into play more later.

Places!
The Library Yep, it rates caps. The lost library of Alexandria is one wing. Ammassed by Dr. Minerva Dries, (Mad) Adventuring Librarian!
Formerly head librarian, resigned (although she's officially listed as on sabbatical). Now run by her former assistant, Farnsworth. It dwarfs the attached university, although anyone may use it, not just students. Speaking of which...

Redding College The rival college to I.C.U. (International Charter University) . Chic went to school here, and briefly taught here. Boasts a fine calvinball team. Go Tigers!

Coffee 'N Toffee Desdemona works here. Claire suggested the name for this place. One of Xyon's many coffee shops, near both colleges. Is the home of the primordial brew. Remember those stories of the inn's soup pot that never empties, just has more added each day? The brew resembles tar, lurches and bubbles in it's pot. Drinking a shot is an initiation rite of many of the local frats. The barista will cheerfully done welder's gloves and goggles, pour it, and even have an ambulance on stand by for you.
It also serves a variety of the more usual caffinated beverages, light food, and desserts.

Thanks to Chic for reminding me that this thread exists, let's see what I can dredge up about some more of my characters.

Bill Tarnowsky (AKA Laughingman): Laughingman started out as a bit of a joke in the dossier's thread where he hacked the M database and posted inaccurate information about DR.KINESTRO!(TM). He was apparently good enough to get Crash's attention, who tracked him down and brought him in to work for M. He went mad during the coffee crises of Xyon when a certain E-Slavement tried to hold the internet hostage. E-Slavement is currently residing in a mental facility recovering from his encounter with an enraged Laughingman. Laughingman has created several hundred minor AIs over the years and three high level intelligence AI's. Namely Anona, Hunt, and Kill.

DR. KINESTRO!(TM): Kinestro started out as a tales of madness character to help explain Demothesis's backstory and give some idea of how the hench dealt with mads. Eventually he made his way to the main game as a comedy relief character, only existing to do a horrible job at everything he set his mind to, completely oblivious to his failures of course. He's sort of gained some strange abilities and an actual backstory that explains his one dimensional personality, which is odd because he was never supposed to have one. He was supposed to just be random and crazy. But hey, back story fits with my story idea and he has a boyfriend/girlfriend now! Isaac's got his work cut out for him.

The Progressor's Shadowy Leader (PSL): PSL is a fairly complex character. He's very much an antagonist to the main crew, and is certainly coldly violent at times, but he has his reasons, and they're not precisely bad ones. If you take the world in reality and add mads, we'd probably all be dead withing a decade, but in MSW the world has survived forever like that. That's because we write it and reality as we know it doesn't factor into things. So in a way he's a bit disconnected from his reality. He can see the statistical odds of us all dying due to some mad's experiment and decided to take an active role in preventing our demise. The Progressors as a group existed long before he came along, but he has unified it in a way that no other leader has before. He's working on a project, and has been for almost twenty years, to eliminate the threat of mads for good, without having to kill them as has been the case with the progressors in the past when a mad gets out of hand. So in short, he's somewhat justified in his actions, falling somewhere between the well intentioned extremist and the Knight Templar (with heavy leanings towards the second)

Joe: What can be said about Joe? That he makes the best food you've ever had, hands down? That he used to cook for the jeager army? That he's much older than he looks? That he somehow runs a diner between the LoV and HEH without having to rebuild the place every day? Or, that he runs JOES(Jacks Of Every Situation) as well as Joe's the diner? Well all those things can be said about him, though you're more likely to hear about his cooking than running a secret spy organization dedicated to maintaining nuetrality between good and evil. Joe himself is the god of "best food you can imagine", and can make anything, go ahead, try him. Basically Joe came about while discussing the HEH and where the members of both groups would possibly meet, and since, somehow, there was no Joe's Diner, I made one to fill both gaps. The Nuetral secret organization just sort of sprouted up around the idea.

As part of my insidious plot to fill the column on the right hand side with "Last post: Sarah McLaren", here's one of my characters.

Kylin Keymaster
Kylin was created in the year 1983 IC (Imperial Calendar) by Orion Robotics, which was itself a division of the TAM Corporation. After an AI project went under due to budget cuts, Orion was repurposed into making war machines, which were sold to the highest bidder.
Kylin was created using the unfinished AI program, designed to simulate learning. (After all, waste not want not). Instead of most of the range, he was designed to be quick and agile, carrying messages and darting behind front lines. A new, light, strong alloy was even used in his construction with this in mind. An AI that could quickly diagnose and respond to threats was an essential.

Kylin was the prototype, and only, example of K-Line. His serial number was: 12681974KN

Kylin's debut went downhill when he was ordered to kill members of the corporation who had been leaking company secrets. He asked "Why?". Not, however, out of any sense of mercy - he didn't have any. He just wanted to know. Congratulations, Jamie, you've managed to program curiosity, and now you can watch your pride and joy get melted down for scrap.

Enter Kunda.

Some of those company secrets had reached her ears, and she was here to destroy the building (with no one inside. What do you take her for?). She started a small fire and let the evacuation procedure occur. She then wandered around the building reading a book. When she got to an interesting bit, she leaned against the wall. Which had the stop button for the conveyor belt with Kylin on it. She says it was an accident, but seriously, how do you miss a huge conveyor belt with a deactivated robot and other bits of junk leading into a shredder when it's right in front of you?

She activated Kylin and told him to put a certain card in the main computer, and then run. When asked why, she grinned and told him it would blow up the building. Satisfied, Kylin did so. Cue epic being-chased-by-a-huge-fireball scene. Just before the fire got him, a door appeared with Kunda on the other side. He jumped through, the door slammed shut on the flames, and by the time they had cleared, it had dissappeared.

Kunda gave him his current name, a pun on his model and her language's word for lightning. She also gave him a key, which hangs around his neck.

Kylin's been travelling with Kunda ever since. Despite initial attempts to get rid of him, he feels he owes her a debt, and eventually she gave up and accepted his company. Occasionally, she will give him upgrades. She has had to completely rebuild him at least once.

Kylin is connected to the Network, but only uses it to draw power for his energy beams, which require more energy than his onboard generator can produce or his batteries hold.

He is currently 10 years old. In robot years, that's quite a bit.

Kylin's main weapons are his teeth, fangs, and triclawed tail, in addition to the aforementioned energy weapons. He also has a pair of metal wings, which unfold out of holes in his sides.

He grumbles a bit sometimes at rough treatment, but Kunda always points out that as a robot, he can take it a lot easier than humans can.

Kylin's greatest fear is someone modifying his mind. Maybe this has already happened! How would he know? This topic is the subject of much paranoia, and he has made Kunda promise not to do so.

An update on the (still seldom seen) Zia-
Quote:

Zia was created by Amadeus Frankenestein. He's the original monster, Tinker's character, and the inheritor of the Good Doctor's notes. So, she's his daughter. She has the same black lips and pale skin (it's in the original book). Dresses as a goth to disguise herself. Which also explains the fingerless gloves, the cuff bracelets, the choker made of leather and tattered lace-they hide the stitches. Her proportions seem slightly 'off', it's nothing you can really put your finger on. Only an Igor would notice. Long lived but not immortal. Isn't ashamed of being a creation, a 'frankenstein', but is...cautious about who she reveals it to. Is fond of her father figure, will gently tease him about his old fashioned ways, and is currently trying to get him to switch from the typewriter to a laptop.

And since Demo has invited folks to create Progressor agents, I've made a couple. Only seen in chat so far, but that will change.
Progressor Agents
Daphne Clarke- Police officer Daphne Clarke is from a law enforcement family. She's quite capable, and was doing well in her chosen profession.
Then came the Brownsboro massacre. A mad went berserk in the worst way. Suffice it to say that she's one of the few survivors, and she's the reason that there are any survivors at all. She spent several months recuperating in the hospital afterwards, and was approached by the progressors during that time. After careful thought, she resigned from the police department and became an agent. She's quite the markswoman, and is the assassin of her team.
Her partner is Donald (Tinker's character), who insists on calling her Daffy. She grumbles and complains about all the trouble he is, but is really very protective of him. If the PSL offered her another partner, she would refuse. Donald's been through so much... She's of average height, blonde, sharp blue eyes.

Roland-Roland grew up in a very small community. He had loving parents, friends, teachers. He worked hard at his chores, he spent most of his free time training in the use of weapons and learning to fight. He studied, he read-oh, the wonderful stories in the books!
Then, disaster hit.
There are more hidden communities of cults than we realize. Some declare they know the day and hour the world will end. 2012, anyone? Or that the rapture is coming 2 years from now, and only the pure will be saved, those who have draw apart from this wicked world. In Roland's case, their charismatic leader had convinced a group of followers that Arthur would come again, and that they would be there and waiting for him. Arthur would reward them for their faithfullness, they would be his lords and ladies, and their sons would be his knights.
Details are sketchy on how it all ended. But Roland survived. Thrust into a world he knew nothing of. Oh, he assimilated it all well enough. But..culture shock isn't the right word, or maybe it is. The tales of derring do aren't applicable anymore. He tried being a vigilate for a while, did some good. But grew disillusioned. Criminals get off, or after a short while, they're back. And giving someone a deserved thrashing gets you arrested, too. Bigger causes drew him for a while. But worldwide problems like pollution, ect.-a lifetime isn't enough. But mads...they're like the wizards in the stories. And protecting the townsfollk from the powerful mage who can turn them into frogs or worse is what he was created for.
He's not a mad. He's a hero. To quote Demo-"I like the idea of him being completely human in all respects, or at least as far as anyone can tell, even himself. the idea of all those knights, always human but somehow able to slay dragons. Like there's just something about him, that intangeable something about certain warriors and soldiers that seems to make them untouchable."
Intelligent, good hearted, quietly determined to do his duty. He came to the attention of the Progressors when he took out a mad that was on their list. No, he doesn't hate all mads, or take pleasure in killing. The mad in question was studied by him for some time. He discovered that the people the mad abducted were sometimes recovered.
In several pieces.
So, he rescued those he could, and eliminated the threat. And became a Progressor agent.
Agent Roland does not have a partner. Yet. That will hopefully change soon.
Tall, muscled but graceful with it, sandy hair-you know, the dark blonde/light brown shade, clear brown eyes.

Jo-Her name's Josephine. Just that. Usually goes by Jo. And is the daughter of Joe, of Joe's diner. Has inherited some of his cooking ability, but is really a mechanic. Creator of Gladys, her intelligent food synthesizer machine, They run the late shift at the Diner a lot. Gladys communicates with various beeps-think R2D2-but Jo can understand her perfectly.
Jo's mother? Heh. It's worked out, but I'm saving her history for the game. Sooo much has been developed in chat. This will be updated later.
Tall, slender, short brown hair that always looks tousled no matter how much time she spends on it.

Sarah McLaren has mainly lived as uneventful a life as you can have when you're born into a Mad family with no Spark of your own. The daughter of Winsome Lux and KT, she was largely sheltered from that side of reality at KT's behest.
At school she was a bit of a wild child, earning the nickname "Psychopath", and was somewhat isolated.
She has an innate sense of direction and an ability to be unnoticed when moving, which came in handy when taking revenge, usually by stealing or moving small important items. This did not really do anything for her popularity.
Damien and Sarah, in addition to being cousins, are also firm friends. She was there to support him after he left the family and he helped her in her plan to cover up Axel.
She likes to think she has a talent for manipulation and psychology, but is probably not as good as she thinks she is.
She also has a video blog, which she updates with videos of her adventures. She can often be seen with a camera, looking for the next viral video.
