Oh, I like! Welcome aboard!

.. not how Science works, love. 1st, you build the machine, then it tells you what it's for.
Do you think I had the 1st idea what a squidhole was when I invented it? Certainly not! I was just messing about! That's when the very best & very Maddest Science gets done. I thought,Why, this alabaster octopus looks like it wants a nice transmission inside it,& fairly soon I had a thing that obviously had a Use, though what that Use could be was a total mystery.
(Sameness Engine) I haven't the 1st notion of what it's for! That's not why I made it-I made it for the sheer joy of making something new! It's getting up to tell me what it wants me to do, though, I can just feel it. It's been giggling a lot at night.

"MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" he laughed, but stopped suddenly. "No, that's not right either. What do you think, Scally?" he asked the creature on his shouder. It didn't answer, just looked at him reproachfully.
Charles was 23 years old. He had just finished his Degree in Evil Creatures of Doom, with specialization in Biomechanical Hazards. Scally was his pet experiment (and only one to survive the last Counsel of Righteous Madness' inspection). It was a genetically enhaced android chameleon that could blend in with any enviroment perfectly, and had imbued an ungodly ammount of weapons of mass destruction. Tinkering with his creatures' fundamental structure was Charles idea of a fun afternoon.
As he practiced his evil laughter, he slapped a slimy tentacle back under the bathroom sink. He had to do something about the fungus growing in the piping. Of lately, it started growling whenever he would approach the sink. Worth the lesson: Never toss experimental bacteria down the drain.
As he took a breath to laugh again, someone knocked at the door. He expired roughly, running to get the door before whoever it was left. Scally disappeared on his shoulder as they moved, nothing denouncing his position except for the claw marks in Charles' lab coat.
"Yes?" He said, oppening the door. He couldn't help but grin at the look in the delivery guy's face. He nearly dropped the small cardboard box ("WARNING - HIGHLY HAZARDOUS CONTENT" it said on the top. "KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND SPARE LIMBS IN GENERAL", on the sides) as he looked in the small apartment. What seemed to be a tropical forest was growing inside the place, and the scary part was that most of the plants moved, and had all sorts of dangerous appendages, such as teeth or claws or both.
"Y-y-you're Mr. Alpha, right?" He was trembling so bad, the thing in the box started humming. He tried speaking again, but suddenly, a tongue appeard out of nowhere from Charles' shoulder and grabbed a cybernetic spider that was crawling up the doorframe. The man whimpered, and Charles could swear he smelled ammonia. "Th-th-th-this is f-for you, s-sir." He handed Charles the box, and waited impatiently for the young man to sign the form.
When Charlie held the box, he peeked inside and laughed. "Hey, who would've know, it is rather cute!" he said, staring intently from behind his glasses. He leered straight at the deliveryman's face. "And, look, I bet it's hungry!"
At that he opened the box with one smooth movement. The last thing the deliveryman ever heard was the maniac laughter.
