I should probably just bring this up in chat, but I never seem to be on when chat is active anymore. How would people feel about actually traveling waaaaay back in time to the Silurian period? It's the time where the nautiloid Dr. Beard wants lived, and I thought maybe she could hijack the time machine to get there. There are no dinosaurs, or even land animals other than things like the early predecessor of the spider, but there are:

Supercontinents and tons of small islands
Lots of reefs
Cone-shelled, nautilus-like predators the size of school buses
Armor-plated fish the size of tanks, whose entire jaws were one solid sharp-edged crunching bone
Huge forests of early plants
Any number of things that might not have been preserved in the fossil record, including the causes of several mysterious mass extinction events

If nobody's interested, people don't think it would work/be realistic, or if you think your character would vow eternal vengeance on Beard in a way that would NOT be entertaining, I'll forget about it. It's not the original plan, and leaving it won't derail me. I just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

I think it sounds like great fun!
But now I'm craving sushi...

.. not how Science works, love. 1st, you build the machine, then it tells you what it's for.
Do you think I had the 1st idea what a squidhole was when I invented it? Certainly not! I was just messing about! That's when the very best & very Maddest Science gets done. I thought,Why, this alabaster octopus looks like it wants a nice transmission inside it,& fairly soon I had a thing that obviously had a Use, though what that Use could be was a total mystery.
(Sameness Engine) I haven't the 1st notion of what it's for! That's not why I made it-I made it for the sheer joy of making something new! It's getting up to tell me what it wants me to do, though, I can just feel it. It's been giggling a lot at night.
