You get the idea. Here is the place for everyone to discuss the Mad Scientist Wars and the Mad Scientists (Henchmen as well).

So, go ahead. Say something. You know you want to.

This is Lounge topic number 2-- the first topic, found here, reached 100 pages and was archived for ease of reading. Good luck!

In regards to the spirit bomb technique:

Again, this is Sarcastic's opinion, not my own. Have Andrew take it up with her.

She's more a fan of Fruits Basket than DBZ anyway.

Guys, I just have to share something cool. I just registered on another forum-my favorite writer has an ongoing co-operative story thing going on with a few other writers. And it has a big fan following. Well, I used the name Chicgeek. Read what someone posted after I made my first introductory post!

"are you over on MadSci wars too? My daughter is a huge fan of yours..."

Squee! I told her they should come over and play sometime. Just...wow. We do have fans!

Do you think I had the 1st idea what a squidhole was when I invented it? Certainly not! I was just messing about! That's when the very best & very Maddest Science gets done. I thought,Why, this alabaster octopus looks like it wants a nice transmission inside it,& fairly soon I had a thing that obviously had a Use, though what that Use could be was a total mystery.
(Sameness Engine) I haven't the 1st notion of what it's for! That's not why I made it-I made it for the sheer joy of making something new! It's getting up to tell me what it wants me to do, though, I can just feel it. It's been giggling a lot at night.

Ebedibigah?

Sorry, I just still can't wrap my head around us having fans. Nope, I just refuse their existence, no matter how many examples you provide.

In all honesty, that's really cool to hear. Now, I just have to keep my head in check, and not think about how many more people only know me as Wally C. It's a scary concept.

...now I just see them getting into a big argument, escalating between the two series... And Xerox and Fredric bust in dressed as Jet and Spike, shoot a bunch of suction darts in the room, and run.

Gee... that's really awesome. It's pretty cool that people have checked out the game and like it.

You know... I've been debating starting up a second game, running a second game alongside the first, with the deliberate intention being to recruit new players and try to make this into more of a community thing. You know... have two separate games with separate groups of players and separate storylines. I think it'd give people a chance to participate in the Wars without having to sift through some 60+ pages of forum notes to catch up with everything.

But I wouldn't want to start a second game without everyone's approval first. This is, after all, a group thing, and I'd want consent from everyone.

Well, I'm certainly not opposed to it. I've actually had an idea for a new character bouncing around in my head for some time, but no place to put him, so...

I don't have a problem with a second game, but I won't be joining. Still, good luck, and I'll gladly watch.

Edit: Oh, and I forgot to do this the first time through, so: Hello fans, if there are any watching. Glad to know you hypothetically exist. Hope you're enjoying this whole thing, as it spirals rapidly out of control. Of course, it's been doing that since the time somebody got handed a mint, but that's how it goes.

Well, I wouldn't be opposed to having people from the current game involved, but remember that the point of this would be to bring in new people for the game.

If I were doing this, it would either be in one of 3 situations:

a) It happens in the future, after the present Mad Sci Wars.

b) It happens in the past, before the present Mad Sci Wars.

c) It takes the "Digimon Season 3" approach: In the Hypothetical second game of Mad Sci Wars, everything involved in this game is completely fictional, a television show or something along that line. Perhaps the second game would be set in the universe of Dixie De'Ville.

Fine by me, Zobot. This is so much fun, and getting others hooked sounds like a great idea.
I'd kind of like to hear from our newest members-how did you find us? Did you lurk a long time before joining? If not, how did you handle the intimidating amount of posts? Do you have any advice for newbies, either on the main thread here, or the hypothetical one Zobot's talking about?

Nonsense we're great role models. And a don't try this at home disclaimer would be rather pointless.

If someone can build giant robots or alter reality who are we to stop them?

I gues I'm one of the newer members, so I'll say a little bit. I did lurk for a long time- I think I started reading around the Awards, but I went and read through the entire lounge archive right before I joined. I also liked the story enough that I re-read it at one point. I'm not sure, but if someone doesn't like reading through the archives, they might not like joining the story.

As far as advice for someone who might want to join, I'd say it's good if you enjoy spending a decent amount of time on it.

I think a second game would be a good idea. I wouldn't participate, but I'd probably watch. The first game does have a lot of history to process, not to mention being pretty busy.

As for the fans? I would squee, except I was one for a long time. :D

Thanks, Claire! Yeah, this is a time eater. I've been known to go back and reread bits myself. And I wouldn't join a new game, although I might lurk.
I think the practice wars is a good way to get your feet wet, so to speak.
You know-if a new game is started, it'll just be a matter of time before we have a crossover. Then a second. Then it'll be one huge combined story. Who wants to take that bet?

I too remember when I was a fan. It was just when you guys were goofing off in the comments thread and then we set up here and I joined and Martians invaded and my character died and there was and awards show and...

Well you get the idea.

Additionally if there was a second game I say that it should be option c.

Past continuity is messed up as it is, and things written about the future would be hard due to our group constantly changing history.

EDIT: Oh, Oh, Oh. And if you go with option c. crossovers would be easy. They could just meet the "actor version" of our characters.

Now must go sleep. Nrrr.

Of course, we could take advantage of the mobile geography and just put it of the other side of the country/planet. For all we know, some Mad split the United States along the Mississippi river because he liked talking about the Disunited States. Who knows?

I just had an idea: Remember how SiB's 'serial number' for this world and the Negaverse were both 9-digit numbers? That means there's at least 100 million other universes out there... we could have the story take place in one of those (in short, have the same time frame, the same place, and the same setting, but with different characters.)

Of course, option C would be fun too.

Who is to say that it couldn't theoretically be both? Option C just could be one of the dimensions where SiB's catelogued... the fact that in this dimension the events of Mad Sci Wars happen to be considered widely beloved fiction is completely incidental to that.

:D Doesn't surprise me. The comments still at Skin Horse are a pretty powerful intro, especially since you need to scroll past the comments to go to the next section...

I'm the opposite of Claire and Thad - I signed up after spending 'only' a week barreling through the archive. If I hadn't signed up then, I probably would still be lurking now. And occasionally leaving secret-admirer fanarts on your collective doorstep. ^^

As for a second game, Option C sounds good. There's a lot of explanations possible for (dis)continuity, but Thad's right - temporal hijinks would probably get very confusing. Alternate dimensions still leave the possibility for crossovers, too (this springs to mind).

Oh, yeah. Option C is my vote! Since then all the interviews are cannon, which is fun!
By the way, I would like to impose a query on everyone: Who is your character(s) childhood hero(s)?

Mine are:
Andrew: Sherlock Homes (natch), and Captain James Hook. The *book* Captain James, of course. Any mention of the Disney version is.. unwelcome.

Fredric: The Doctor- specifically 3, 4, 9 and 10. Which, if you know enough about The Doctor, is worrying.

Xerox: Eddie Valiant, and Baron Klaus Wulfenbach. Yeah.

Hey, I just realized-- if we choose option C, then we can do all sorts of referencing to the original Wars. For example, TV Guide could discuss the ending of Chapter 12. Or, the actors could do promotions.

Then, there's another thing. If the current MSW is a TV show in an option C universe, then people there will be writing fanfics about it. And some of that fic is going to be Mary Sue fic. Can you just imagine-- a story about Vanessa Wolfsdaughter Ra'Ven Purity Madson, with color-changing eyes and silver-white hair, more seductive than Jane Narbon, more powerful than SoItBegins, more talented than ChicGeek, who just wants to be normal while dealing with her Madness in an ordinary high school setting?

Well, can you? :D

Oh, and for Jane's heroes: Saffron, Eisenheim (the protagonist of the film The Illusionist), Lord Vetinari, The team from Mission Impossible (the TV show), and those two unicorns from Charlie the Unicorn.

I'd like to make a quick request... in the story, could Chic/Xerox/Wally/whoever please make their way over to where Frederic is about to run-in with Jane? Thanks.

Fine by me, Jane. I was thinking of having MadChic pop up on Jane or Sib's doorstep soon anyway.

It sounds like a lot of people like the "Alternate Universe where the current game is a much-beloved work of fiction" idea.

So I'll probably go with that. In any event, this is a long-term idea, probably something that wouldn't happen until the Grand Prix is resolved. I have too much in my plate in the games and IRL to play in 3 Mad Sci threads.

Plus, there's a lot to do. Coming up with plot ideas, finding a way to recruit people, ensuring that the public never discover what happened to the real Fidel Casto, it's gonna be busy!

Thanks for all the input, everyone!
